ConnorWood96
Anybody have any experience with tentioners and belts? When the cars ticking over there's a whining noise coming from somewhere in the engine bay and gets worse when you add revs! I thought it could be belt tensioner? Like **** bearings or something but wanted to be sure before ordering the part! If anyone has had any experience with something for like this and can help I'll be very grateful! Cheers ?? Sausage
Assuming the noise is the belt end of the engine and not the gearbox end then take the aux belt off and see if it goes away before spending money. Could be alternator bearings, idler pulleys, water pump, worn tensioner etc, if it's a squealing noise instead of a whining noise then prob worn / slipping aux belt. Loop'd
Timing belt to tight?? Take the fan belt off and check all pullys.. Take the covers off and check timing belt tension... check under water pump for pink residue.. Edited November 23, 2016 by Loop'd
