FreddyWS
Is it possible to use a 90A alternator from a GTI in place of a 70A alternator on a Sport?
Vwlup0
I'm not too mechanically sound when it comes to electrics but I'd say a jump of 20a is asking for a crispy engine.. probably best to replace parts like for like.
FreddyWS
I was more curious as to whether it would fit the actual brackets, which I think it will. This guy replaced his with a 180A one, so 20A shouldn't be a problem
mattarosa
It will fit but why? the 70A is well ample pardon the pun. All you'll do is use more fuel.
Skezza
70amp is sufficient.
SMC-Thomas
If you're in need a cheap alterator because yours isn't working go to your local scrap yard and get it there from a lupo. That's what I did when mine went. Didn't cost much and it was a do it in your driveway job too, hardest bit was getting the belt back on. Sausage
Maybe he wants to run big amplifiers and stuff so needs the headroom. If you have a 90A to go on bang it on there, you might need to look at the main alternator fuse ratings 1st, but it will make almost zero difference to fuel economy.
