carrera-gt
Sounds like you have a wiring problem to the ODBC connector, get to the back of the connector and take a look you might have lose or broken connection. I'm pretty sure the OBDC port comes directly from the ECU so worth checking the wiring diagram and disconnecting the ECU cable and battery before doing too much a short in the wrong place could have expensive effects. carrera-gt
Ok so time to dig out the wiring diagram and see where the ODBC cable goes, from memory it comes out of the ECU, the samller connector might be the OBDC you could re try it now that it's no longer lose. Pete
Can't you just pull out your obd plug, make note of the wire thickness and colours, unplug your ecu and run continuity between the ends and see if there is any high resistance? Sausage
What is the history of the car? Has this been parked up for a long time or out in the weather in the engine bay? I'd disconnect the battery and then unplug the ecu connectors and have a look see what they are like, flex the loom near the connectors if it is really stiff then the wires could be corroded in the loom if it's been out in the weather. If a wire is corroded it goes really stiff as the strands dont move past each other in the wire. if it all looks reasonable the plug unplug the ecu connectors a few times to clean up the contacts, if they look poor then you'll need some contact cleaner. If it's still the same then check the earths and the fuse box looking for poor contact or tampering. Same goes for the OBD port, drink spill, lack of use etc, plug unplug a few times. get a multimeter. Edited May 25, 2016 by Sausage
