Mobieus_uk
bought what i thought to be a double din facia adaptor off a trusted seller on ebay that I have used before without problems and they send me out a piece of chinese clone crap that not only does it not fit into the dashboard as its too big but the radio doesn't fit into the facia because the hole is too small, so no radio fitting today
Skezza
Photo. They're all pretty much pattern parts anyway, the clones off eBay are always a bit tighter but they do work to be fair.
Mobieus_uk
its was really cheap and nasty, the front hole was about 174mm wide, no way 180mm was gonna fit, ive got a picture of what it looks like, its not a good pic and that was not the supplier was just easier than messing about with photos was pretty well warped as well so that wasnt helping Edited February 22, 2016 by Mobieus_uk
Skezza
Oh wow.... That is very fake. I thought you meant like a decent pattern part.
Mobieus_uk
what they advertised and what i thought i was buying was this, only the plus side they where very sorry and given me a partial refund, i went partial as other stuff i bought i will make use of and would have cost me to sent it back
Skezza
There's a lot of problems with that fake part.

You need to file off the front lip of the fascia.
Mobieus_uk
that was going to be my last resort, found another fixing cage going to order that and see if thats any better
Skezza
I would file the lip on the FP-17-00, they're only about a fiver anyway and you'll get a real nice OEM look.
Mobieus_uk
I would have done but the xtron unit has a row of button right across the bottom and it just doesnt sit right, its plan 2, plan 1 is try the cage ordered, they are pretty cheap anyway so gives me another option
Skezza
Yep sounds about right.
Mobieus_uk
Radio is nearly completed, ended up trimming the FP-17, nice snug fit, as suggested by Skezza, just need to mechanically fix it as it pops out in the corner and that will just not do, also the additional weight is making the dash pop out as my whole section is removable so will work out a way to lock that in, was sneaky with the gps arial, just hooked it under the dash under the heater vent, works perfectly, really pleased with the radio so nearly there
Skezza
The popping out is caused by cables at the back. Be inventive.
Mobieus_uk
yeah, worked that out, the lupo is one of the worst cars Ive ever had to fit a radio in due to the lack of space and hard to find places to fit the connecting block, the loom on the new radio is pretty short, easy to extend to might do that so i can then get the plug tucked away, tried taking the old cage out but that made things a lot worse, cable ties is another option so will have a look later as got to pull radio out as bought the litttle arial adaptor today so will fit that Edited March 6, 2016 by Mobieus_uk
Mobieus_uk
well its in only problem now is the car wont start, lol
Skezza
That still doesn't look like a genuine FP-17-00...
Mobieus_uk
it may not 'be, Ive never seen a genuine so cant compare, at least if was a better fit that the super dodgy fake that wouldnt even go in the hole,
