PashWithTheLupo Posted October 12, 2015 Report Share Posted October 12, 2015 So I've got a 2001 VW Lupo, AUA engine. Manual. One day it just wouldn't start. turns over once but then cuts out. Got a guy out, ECU displaying error code P1570, ECU blocked. Bought a new ecu, got another guy to try and recode both and he failed. Another guy has tried to virginse the ECU but every time he recodes it, it pulls all the old data back. It seems like no one can fix this car. I've just bought a new engine, clutch and gearbox for it, so I don't really want to give up on it.If anyone has any ideas how I can get this fixed up, that'd be amazing, I simply can't afford taking it to a VW dealer. If the ECU Is blocked, it's blocked.... by the immobilizer. Buying a new ECU was almost certainly unnecessary as the problem lies with your immobilizer. It sounds as though you've gone at this from the wrong direction.Now, my first suggestion would be to remove the immobilizer, give it a clean, see if the cables are plugged in, check the wiring harness. Make sure all the contacts are fresh and not corroded. If it still won't start then your immo might be buggered.If that's the case, I would buy an immobilizer bypass circuit. I'm going to go for the Imobi Bypass option you suggested, Just need to find one that'll fit the lupo, can't seem to find any on eBay. Any tips where to find one for a 1.4 16v 2001 VW Lupo Petrol? Skezza Posted October 12, 2015 Report Share Posted October 12, 2015 Ash, you firstly need to find out if you're on an Immo2 or Immo3. As a 2001 Lupo, I'm fairly confident you're on an Immo2, but that's not necessarily true. There's an overlap that isn't clearly defined, but it's fairly well accepted that most all Lupo's after 2002 are Immo3 which are very hard to bypass because the Immo is paired with the ECU. Immo2 are only paired with the ignition barrel, so you can easily bypass these using a kit like this:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAG-IMMO-Emulator-for-VW-Audi-Seat-Skoda-A4-A6-Golf-etc-/181687735213?hash=item2a4d6ed3adConsdering, you're currently in **** city, I would just buy one, solder the wires in and see what happens.
