Noises (newbie alert!!)

Recommended Posts

Hello good people of club lupo!

I have recently got my first car which is obviously a lupo, it's a 1.4 and it's an 03 with 100k on the clock which I picked up on eBay for £700

I have noticed a noise coming from the passenger side when I take my foot of the accelerator and when braking, it's a knocking noise that happens almost contestantly once I've taken my foot off the accelerator until I stop or speed up again.

I have absolutely zero knowledge when it comes to recognising a mechanical problem with cars, so could someone please give me a little info on what it possibly could be?

Thanks :)

Passenger side where? Front, middle, back?

Years ago when i was feeling lazy and had a mystery knock on my car i just took it in an ATS and got them to look at it on the ramp for me, he found the problem in about 60 seconds, needed new suspension bottom arms on the front. Cost to me was nil for that info. I fitted the arms myself.

If you have zero mechanical aptitude then I'd advise that approach.

Evening sausage!

Thanks for your reply! I should have said it was the front passenger side, I am planning on getting it checked out this weekend but thought I'd consult this forum first seeing as the you lot know a lot more than me. Along with the knocking it seems like the passenger wheel is wobbly also, I'll get it checked professionally this weekend!!

H'mm wobbly wheel eh?

check them wheel nuts as a first precaution.

If the movement is at quarter to three then track rod ends or steering rack, if half twelve then bottom ball joint, there are plenty of other things it could be though LOL
