Mr.Badbrains
As I was getting laughed at my perfectly good oem Gamma v radio I updated my head unit to 21st century. First I noticed there are few wires disconnected from connectors - one is colored green/gray and the other is white/gray. What are those wires for? One I think might be the k-line, but not too sure about the other...Then there is this issue with the backlight of the new head unit. It has two settings, day and night dimming. Now if I turn my headlights on, it starts flickering. Headlights off (day dim), its all good. Also, when I manually set day and night dim to same brightness, it works also with headlight turned on (no flickering). Illumination pin is plugged to same wire that it was with Gamma (blue/gray I think it was). I think it might have something to do with the voltage its getting from dimmer switch not being enough or something.New heading is Blaupunkt sydney 220bt btw. Skezza
Have you installed the wiring harness?
Mr.Badbrains
Not sure what you mean, but Im using oem harness and connectors, just swapped pins in connectors so they are in correct spots.Previous owner has done some modifications in the harness so there are some mystery loose wires. Skezza
Ahh. There's a wiring harness you can buy but if you've played with the wiring then it's going to be a multimeter job.
Mr.Badbrains
I found this.Does anyone have this kind of diagram for Lupo (Gamma V)?
Skezza
Got a photo of the mess behind the head unit. Let's see if we can get it back to stock to begin with, then using a wiring loom, you can make it work with your new unit.
Mr.Badbrains
Now that grey/white wire was the "k-line" as I thought. Green/grey wire is still a mystery. As for the illumination, it seems that I need to draw a new wire from non dimmed source. I believe that the ashtray light is not behind the dimmer switch so I might just tap a wire there. Skezza
There should be an illumination wire already?
Mr.Badbrains
There should be an illumination wire already?Yes there is, like I wrote in my first post. But the problem with that is that it comes from the dimmer switch and has variable voltage output. My new head unit, I think, needs 12v to get illumination working properly.
