AHW swapped for BBY 1.4 16v - Does not Start! Help!

Recommended Posts

Hi

So our 1999 Lupo 1.4 16V Auto (AHW) engine blew.

Could not find a replacement AHW Auto engine ( Auto engine has different crank to Manual version)

So, hearing that people were upgrading to a later 1.4 16 with engine code BBY, we bought a BBY engine.

Fitted......

Put key in ignition..... engine tries to turn over on starter, in the ON position..

I've checked all the plugs and they seem to be fine and impossible to get wrong....

Also noticed after I lock the car...then unlock using key in drivers door...the engine turns over for 3 seconds ( BUT does not fire up)

Weird right?

Any ideas how I can get this problem solved?

Many thanks

What ecu have you used? Also, you may have answered your own question if the crank sensor is a different type. Is the fuel system bled up? Battery voltage ok?
