iammike
I have a GTI and I think that the gearing is too low as I do a lot of motorway miles and the engine has enough power/torque to sit at 3000rpm at 80mph. Is it possible to change the diff or box for higher gearing while keeping the original drive shafts and clutch? Happy for a 5 speed box if required. Any ideas?? Dblock
If you change the final drive it will change all your gears. Edited May 14, 2015 by Dblock
iammike
Happy with changing the diff as I think the GTI is under geared. Just looking for solutions to get to a more 'normal' gear range.
Sullading
I don't think there are many different out there for lupo's... Not possible to take 5th gear out of a diesel box and put it into a gti box???
weslangdon
similar sort of question but with a TDI in mind, has anyone fitted a 6 speed box from a GTI to this model or are the gear ratios all wrong

You would end up with a weaker gearbox with shorter ratios I think. Edited June 5, 2015 by Dblock
weslangdon
that makes sense and even rebuilding a gearbox to suit the diesel would still leave you with a box unable to cope with the diesels torque
