Broke lever/handle to move passenger seat fwd. What do?

So the mechanism to make the move passenger move forward (to allow access to the back seat) started giving trouble. Sometimes the seat seemed to be stuck in place (and the lever/handle didn't seem to be doing anything) and at other times the seat would not stay securely in place and would jump forward under heavy breaking.

As a result of this I've been fiddling about with the handle a lot recently and probably too forcefully at times. The handle eventually just came off in my hand.

Basically I'm wondering if repair at a reasonable cost is possible (I can't really see how myself) or should I just look for a replacement seat?

Probably stretched cable running from the handle to the lock at the bottom of the seat. Not sure if you can still get the handles.

Covers come off the seats fairly easy, so as long as you get a seat with the same bolsters shape etc. you could swap the covers.
