  1. So it's been a while since I've posted on ClubLupo. I think it was around 5 years ago now when I parted out my reflex silver 1.4 75hp, that was on air ride, with a 3L front, BBS Bugatti's and Work Meisters. It sure was a fun time and a great car that made me meet so many awesome people of which some I still speak to today. Here's a couple of how that Lupo was before I partied it out and sold it. Now the reason we're here. My fiance had always missed that Lupo, she did buy a 1985 Mazda 323 a few years ago, but due to Covid and life etc she didn't get round to getting her license and when we moved house the 323 sat there for 18 months as we didn't know what to do with it, it required too much welding to be worth it to us, afterall we pulled it out of a field for £500, drove it 20k miles and then parked it. So on our end, we had got our enjoyment out of it and had sold it on to someone who had 4 of them who is now getting it back on the road, good deed done there. She had been looking for quite sometime, originally she wanted a Cambridge as she fell in love with the colour, and having been to university in Cambridge she felt the need to have one. With the only one coming up on autotrader in that time being in Birmingham, she started to look for other unique and fun lookign combinations. And one day, she stumbled upon this 1.0 Yellow Open Air. A bit rough around the edges, but a large amount of history, been looked after by one family from new. And a numberplate that says WTF. Well, we almost couldn't pass it up, especially for what it was listed for. So we figured it would make a perfect first car & first real project for her. A small amount of body damage, but mostly carpark marks etc from over the years, nothing that can't be fixed. Tim, if you're reading this because you did say you looked at the Lupo forums occasionally. Thank you for looking after this Lupo for many years, I do hope you approve of what you see. From picking this Lupo up, half a lap around the M25 home, we started talking about the plans for it and where Sophien wanted to take it. With some notes scribbled down, a few links saved we started to have a direction. Now, Sophie has said she doesn't want to go in to deeply yet while she is still learning to drive properly. So for the most part the beginning will just be cleaning things up, repairs and a few cosmetic things.
  2. Hi all, new member here. Proud owner of a 1.4 16v 100hp open air Lupo!! Open air roof (as many are) is in a bit of a bad way and I want to replace it but with a solid roof. My question is, has anyone had any experience replacing the actual roof panel!!?? Plenty of lupos about at breakers yards... Cheers!!
  3. Hi there! Just got my first Lupo (1.4, 16v, black, open air) a couple of months back, and I love it to pieces. Aside from wanting to find other lupo owners that love their cars as much as I do, I'm also looking for some advice. The open air roof leaks something chronic, and even though I've pulled the whole thing out and stuck sealant under the roof panel, it's still letting water in Can anybody either - 1.) Give me advice on how you've DIY fixed this yourself? 2.) Direct me to someone currently breaking an open air/selling a secondhand roof OR 3.) have an idea of any businesses that might be able to redo the roof? Preferably at a non extortionate price, being a student doesn't allow much in terms of funds Hope this is all allowed! Thanks in advance for any help <3

  5. Right ladies and gents I'm thinking of getting rid of the lupo and going back to a mk4 golf, so I'm just putting feelers out to see where it leads too. 1.4 16v open air with FSH, cambelt and water pump done about 6k ago, new tyres on genuine BBS wheels, spare included (steel). Good interior and overall a great car. Cosmetically, its not perfect, however there are a few little stone chips around (can only see 2) but it is nearly 15 year old. Bad bits *Roof doesn't open so clamped it shut *Eml is on (reads system too lean) *Drivers speaker has gone, needs new one *Window winder handles are off a polo as couldn't find replacement ones Good bits *New pads and discs all around *New tyres (2k ago) *New air filter and oil filter *Throttle body removed and clean 1k ago *New ht leads *New maf sensor *New lambda (front pre cat) *new ish battery (when I bought it garage replaced it) *1 female owner for 13 years and only one other former keeper 07845211038

  8. Hi folks, I have a busted Open Air on my '04 Lupo. The most common problem I know about with Open Airs is the motors struggling with increasingly gacked up roof runners and eventually stripping the plastic cogs that connect the motor to the cable drive gear. I've dissembled a couple of roofs and motors recently and at the week-end I noticed that the plastic cogs are assembled as a pair, one on top of the other, connected by a simple shock-absorber. As commented above, the plastic cogs simply give up the ghost when the effort of moving the roof becomes too much. The most obvious solution would be to buy a replacement plastic cog, pop it in the otherwise healthy motor assemble and screw it back on to the roof, however as far as I know, the plastic cog is not available as a spare from VW. so, what next?? Most people (me included) simply wait for a decent second-hand motor to appear on eBay, and hope it's not too worn. However, at the week-end, I had a closer look at the plastic cog pair and I noticed that they are symmetrical which means you can pop the 2 cogs out together, give them a clean and re-grease them and then pop them back in the other way up, which means the worn section, which is usually formed by the worm gear, is now the other way up and the worm gear is now acting on an unworn set of teeth, so providing you have cleaned up your roof cables and runners so that the roof slides to and fro' as smoothly as poss. you might, just might, get another few years out of your motor assembly... NOTE: I haven't tried this yet, it's just an idea!!
  9. Hi all! It has been quite a while since i last posted here, but im back! My blue Lupo (Sid) kinda died last autum, so i've been on the hunt for a new lupo to drive in! I recently saw this little beauty, and i had to get it! It's a mint 2003 Oxford 1.0 lupo, with the awesome Open Air sunroof! It have only done 116.000km (72.000 miles) which is becoming a rare thing to find so low milage on these cars! Except the Oxford trim, there's pretty much no acessories atm, except the MFD i fitted as the first thing. I do have a couple of doors with electric windows, mirrors and central locking in storage, in black too, so i'll be doing a retrofit sometime soon i hope!
