Hi , Does anyone know if the mk1 fabia aub 100bhp engine is the same as the lupo sports aub 100bhp? assuming it is and if anyone else has done the swap? And would it be a straight fit? Thanks
  3. Welcome to the build thread for my Lupo S 1.4 16v. To start with I picked the car up from Maidstone and drove it back to Colchester...Kinda... The alternator died on the way home and I lost power in the outside lane of the M25 I eventually got it home, and now it's been repaired I can start work on it! It's been a fustrating week planning the car out and not having it here to do anything to it. So first thing, the radio it came with is awful and the door speakers are blown... Down to Halfrauds and I did a buy! Fitted the Head Unit with no issues, just waiting on speaker adapters and some other bits in the post till my next update.
  4. 1.4 Sport exhaust options?

I've just purchased a Lupo Sport 1.4 and I'm looking to do a back box delete, and hopefully add a race tube in the near future. Ideally, a sportex system is in my price range and I like the sound of those, however I don't know which ones will fit my SPORT model? Also if anyone has any links to a race tube or mid pipe for it please link! Cheers
  5. The day has come to sell my Arosa as I've now bought a new car. I've owned the car since November 2014 and covered approx 25k in it since. It also has a huge amount of receipts/past MOT's and the V5C in my name and the original 2 keys (one with locking buttons). Pictures here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Seat-Arosa-Sport-100bhp-Big-spec-lots-of-upgrades-/142382581436? Spec is as below; - 1.4 100bhp sport AUB 109k - doesn't burn a drop of oil. - Custom Chrome exhaust cat back - Direnza stainless manifold - AP coilovers - 12 months old in perfect order. - Whiteline rear anti-roll bar - Rota GRA 15x6.5, rare now in 15' as they only make them in Subaru size now, with brand new rota caps (perfect condition refurbed in Jan) - Yokohama S Drives 195/45/15 - bought new when wheels were done - 20mm H&R rear spacers. - Momo 300mm, red stitching with a genuine boss and yellow horn button. - Kode red gear knob - Alpine CDE235bt Bluetooth stereo - Cambridge rear lights - Brembo discs front and back, green stuff pads (front) Brembo (rear) - Heko wind deflectors - Dash vents painted splash effect, they look nice (people always ask about them), but to be honest they're not the best finish. - Really decent rubber car mats Recent parts fitted, most/all will have a receipt... - New ignition leads (bigger and don't fit holder) - New battery - New coil pack - New tyres - S Drives - Brake light switch - Rear Brembo pads - Wishbones, ball joints & track rods - Tracking done at A-line with the printout. Serviced in my ownership every 5k with Castrol / Mobil 1 oil and decent parts - not all stamped but lots of receipts from Motorfators with the reg number for service parts. Last service was one was 2k ago. Bad bits... - Bodywork is tatty at the best. Loads of lacquer peel and about 7 shades of yellow. - Rear arches look like they were rolled by a blind person paint has cracked. also paint has flaked off around the rear number plate. - the lip on the sills on both sides are bent/damaged (used as a jacking point by someone), not really an issue but you can see it. - Windows have a mind of their own but always work, drivers one sometimes needs to be asked twice or need a hand halfway up. Passenger one opens only with passenger switch. - Rear right caliper sticks on slightly sometimes and can hear it, still stops as it should. - At some point, the engine light has been taped over, and it is on (can see it in the dark) because of exhaust lambda readings, but the car drives spot on. I also have lots of parts for lying around for it, that will come with the car if the buyer wants, including original seat 5 spoke alloys. Now I know roughly what this car will break for, but I don't have the time or can be bothered to do it. So grab a bargain on the whole lot. No swaps. CASH ON COLLECTION £750 ono

  9. Hi all, Recently had a lot of stuff replaced after an MoT, mainly exhaust and emissions related, and now I have a clicking noise when I accelerate. I can accelerate more softly, and it isn't audible. However, if I accelerate normally, it's audible both in the car and outside. It didn't do this before the car went in for the MoT and repairs, and I'm curious. I've done a little research and come across the Evaporative Emissions Valve making a clicking noise, but if it didn't make it before, I don't understand why it is doing it now ? Thanks for any help in advance! Myles.
  10. I've noticed a whining noise that sounds like its coming from the engine bay. I noticed it when driving back form Oswestry, having been driving for around a good hour or so. whether this coincides with if I'm driving for more than about 40 minutes, it gets really difficult to put into gear, I'm not sure. I took it to a garage who said my clutch cable was stuck and needed freeing, but said they wasn't able to do it as it was a big job. I've been told that if you have a reasonable amount of skill, you can take the entire gearbox out on a drive...? I'm not up to that standard, but I just wondered if anyone else had had these problems, and if so, what was the cause and what was done about it? Thanks, Myles.
  11. Hi guys, I just turned 17 and got myself a Lupo 1.4 16V, have been driving it on a provisional until I pass my test, already done some work to it since it had been left for a couple of years in a garage. However I've noticed that my gas pedal sits at about half the height of my brake/clutch pedals, if I put my foot under it and lift the pedal it will freely lift to the same height as the others, but as soon as I let go it drops back down to halfway. I was thinking it is the throttle cable? Been told that the throttle is electric though so I'm not too sure how to go about it, any suggestions? Cheers, Chris

  20. Overheating

Hello Ive bought my first ever VW lupo, its a 1.4 16v auto and i love it! However, I was driving it normal london conditions - i.e Standstill traffic and the water sign started flashing and the temperature needle had hit 110. Im seriously hoping the gasket isnt blown, i doubt it is as the coolant is a normal colour and there is so far no loss of oil When i bought the car it used to run a little cool but i assumed it may have been missing a thermostat. To be honest, after all the overheating issues ive experienced in BMW's i wasnt that bothered if it ran a little cool. I've lost no coolant and no oil. There was no steam being released from anywhere. It feels like the electric fan didnt kick in either but im not 100% sure of this. Seeing as how I have enough oil and coolant, im thinking the thermostat, fingers crossed theres one in there has failed. the hose pipes going to the electric fan ispiping hot, the return pipe or lower pipe is cooler, this is leading me to believe the thermostat is stuck in the closed position and not allowing the water to travel? When i drove with the heating on full blast i got hot air so i know its not a bleeding issue. im thinking of taking the thermostat out for the time being and leaving it out, can i cause any harm doing this for a short while? plus can anybody how to to actually take the stat out? im guessing i squeeze the clip, take the pipe off and the stat should just be there. By the way if i squeeze the clip do I ned to replace the clip or can i stick on a jubilee clip should i need one? Plus once i open it up do i need to bleed the system again? Can anyone please direct me to the bleed valve as well? Any help is much appreciated Ta

  22. Lupo seems quicker than it should...

This morning I bought a blue 1.4e Lupo. I knew the 16v would be a bit lively, however I have driven an Ibiza sport with the same engine and it seems so flat in comparison to this, definitely not standard (apart from the induction kit). So, I'd like to know if anyone knows who this car belonged to, what they did to it and possibly why they sold it. It was bought in Nottingham, and has been in this general area from new I assume: First 3 letters of the Reg are T68, it has a brand new throttle body and a BMC CDA induction kit and I think FK's all round (probably wrong) Anyway, Im in love with it and havent even picked it up yet. Liam
  23. Brake Disc Sizes

Ok, so I brought some brake discs for my 1.4 16v thinking they were 240mm, however they turned out to be 256mm! I filtered the parts for my REG and it said that they would fit, and from a very quick read online apparently I will be able to fit the 256's. Can anyone confirm this so I don't have to go and buy some 240's now? Thanks from Lewis

  25. So, we at Dirty Stancing and Garage Midnight acquired a block, in quite a sorry state, and I have taken it upon myself to make it not a sorry state. This little block has quite the lovely story behind it. Starting life in a very good friend of ours' Lupo, a Mr Robin Marriott. After serving its time in his little show stunner it had taken to having a bit of a smoke, so he stripped it out and was planning on re building it. In the mean time fitting a new, non smoky engine to his Lupo. This meant that this poor block sat on an engine stand never to be touched again... until Levi bought it, and put it in his garage... where it also didn't get much attention... and then we got our FILTHY hands on it. it a bit of a state I must admit... once we had had a good long think about what to do with it, still undecided, we stuffed it on the engine stand and started to deconstruct. things dont happen all that fast here... easily distracted, and like i said, we weren't sure where we were going with this so it was really for me to learn what can be done. Having never worked on an engine before, its all new to me, so its a learning curve. Got most of the front end off and started to clean this DUTeeeyyyy thing up. and the sump off and demucked! couple of bits bought whilst i had the cash moneys sitting there so its pretty much ready for the next few bits. Next on the agenda is get these valves out and have a go at porting and polishing this head. got loads of room to play with with these new gaskets and then we are going to fab a manifold to fit that so we can go wild! Then all there is to think about is cams, lightened flywheel and carbs, which is the decision we have come to for this build. The point/plan of this build is for me to learn, so there will be no sending it off for others to do. EVERYthing is going to (hopefully) be done inside the confines of Culo Diablo/Dirty Stancing/Garage Midnight. (which you can follow as individual hashtags on instagram) hoping to get around 160bhp from it, but to be honest like ive said, its just to have a go really. i'll update when anything new happens Safe x
