  1. Hi all, I hope that you can help me with my Lupo AUD 1.4 from 2002. It sometimes goes into some kind of emergency mode, mainly after long drives. Then a strange clapping noise comes from the exhaust. It won't accelerate anymore. After a wait it will drive normally again after shutting it down. I've thus far replaced both O2 sensors, the catalytic converter and the spark plugs. It shows error code P0441 and P0134. In t video you can hear the strange noise. Any help and suggestions are welcome! Thanks! Rolf VID-20230304-WA0014.mp4
  2. Hi there. Just wanted some advise on what to do about my 2001 Lupo, 1.4 16v 75bhp. I’m having trouble getting the EML off. Got a code for P1174, Bank 1, fuel measuring system, Injection Timing Deviation. I’ve replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter and the injectors. I’d already replaced one of the O2 sensors already, long before this started. I’ve also replaced the secondary CAT as it was already falling apart. Not sure what else I can replace apart from the Charcoal canister, the crankshaft sensor and camshaft sensor. Many thanks Micheal
  3. Recently bought my first vw after 10 or so years of looking down on them.. And I have to say that even with a 1.4 lupo I now understand why people are so passionate with vw. Theres a quality that you cant find in other new small cars (one of my other cars was a w168 a-classe 1.4 and even that little merc seems somewhat less well built). I m in the process of changing the door panel fabric to black and painting the trim to black.(its a red car). Can anyone suggest something subtle other than audio ,steering wheel ,seats and wheel covers? Already did a **** job with a wheel cover ( black with red stitching, I m turning everything in the interior in that fashion). Thanks in advance and thanks for all the info already in the forum. Open to discussion 😃
  4. Hello! I need some help figuring out the coding for the abs unit in my Lupo 1.4 I get fault code for abs not being coded correctly.
  5. 😔 the time has come to sell my metallic silver 1.4 S (2004, 113868 miles, new cam belt) Would love it to go to a good home and that's why I'm here. Open to sensible offers.
  6. So after owning my Lupo for just under a month, and after reading quite a few build threads, i have decided to do my own. She is a 02 reg, soft blue, 1.4 16v Lupo. My first car. So since owning her, shes been cleaned inside and out around 4 times and i havent had her a month yet! i mean... who likes to own a dirty car anyway? Any way, apart from all the cleaning i've done, i managed to take our the drivers side air vent, the seat handles and the binnacle and paint them gloss black. The binnacle didnt turn out as good as i expected because the lacquer started to run down and dried like it, but at least its gloss black now? primer... painted and fitted again... when i got the car, it only came with a passenger side seat handle, so i set to and ordered 2 brand new ones. found them on amazon if anyone else needs some? i also decided to remove and paint the covers that they slot into on the actual seat... and finally... i didnt want just gloss black air vents i decided to add a bit of a sparkle to it and added blue glitter! and fitted... heres one after i finished cleaning! i also got this through the post the other day, just need to remove my door cards then i can re trim them! sorry for such a long post, i'll be quiet for a bit now! what do you guys think?
  7. Hi guys, I recently brought a little Lupo S 1.4, I really need help looking for the name or where to find and buy a missing part, it’s a small thing but it makes the car look miles better. It’s the metal cover that goes onto the lock barrel, where you insert your key. I have attached a photo highlighting the part. Any help would be massively appreciated! :)

  11. £1100 ONO Lupo 1.4 S 75bhp, red and black cloth interior. 92k miles with service history, has been well looked after (I've had it for four years, 2 owners previously). Super reliable, cheap to insure and run, never had any major problems. It is due MOT next week which I will get sorted for new owner. The car will come AS IS, with all mods, which are as follows (off the top of my head):- Lowered on coilovers- 13" 8J ATS Classics with Yokohama tyres (minor stretch), decent tread left.- Hidden aftermarket backbox - sounds a little deeper than standard.- Small "old" style chrome mirrors & door handles to match.- Custom sprayed body coloured front bumper- Black badges- Small aerial.- Back de-wipered- Aftermarket head-unit (Sony) and subwoofer in boot (Vibe LiteAir Compact 12")I'm hoping someone else will enjoy it as much as I have, it has turned a lot of heads in the last few years! Perfect first car for someone who's just passed their test and wants to get involved in the modded car scene.Based in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Contact me on 07716 373510
  12. Make: VW Model: Lupo Sport Tdi MOT: Ran out Nov 2018 Engine size: 1.4 Fuel type: Diesel Description including modifications: So this car is a do up project, currently SORNed and out of MOT. Exhaust needs sorting, currently has no back box on it due to it falling off. Age related rust issues. Electric windows are temperamental but I've been told it's an easy sort for someone who knows what they are doing. They work when you long press the key but not using the button inside the car. The bonnet catch has been taken off but bonnet still accessible just need to pull the wire. Battery is flat as it hasn't been used since November but had a friend hook up a battery to check the engine 2 days ago and it runs fine still Full service history included. This car will be a great project for someone or a cheap runner for someone starting out. Inbox me any questions. I only got rid of it because I have no idea how to make a car work again and couldn't afford the time or the money. I want it to go to someone who will do it up and give it a new life! Location: Keadby, just outside of Scunthorpe. Images: Price: £450

  14. Very reluctant sale of my Arosa Sport due to a baby on the way. Good unmodified and low mileage example, posted here first in the hope of finding a new owner who will appreciate it. Make: Seat Model: Arosa Sport MOT: December (No advisories on last MOT) Engine size: 1.4 Fuel type: Petrol Mileage: 31,100 Registered: December 2004 Description including modifications: No modifications Good points: Very low mileage, excellent condition for it's age, interior very smart, owned for 8 years with no problems (Front disks and pads replaced 2013, EGR value replaced 2017) Less good points: Passenger side window does not open (common Arosa/Lupo fault), cracked driver side wing-mirror casing, large scratch and small dent on passenger side, due a service (major service June 2017), alloys scratched but in reasonable condition considering the age. Location: West Midlands (between Coventry and Solihull) Price: £1,250 ONO
  15. So I’ve been a member on here for a few months now, never really posted much. I bought the Lupo for £450, had a few mechanical problems, I broke the gearbox when I first started driving so had my dad sort that. I wasn’t really going to do much to the car as I didn’t really think I’d keep if for a long time. Slowly started adding stickers to the back and thought that’s all that I’d do as I didn’t think it was worth spending much on a £450 car. Here he is today, haven’t finished with him at all. I bought a few things and before I knew it he’s completely different to how he was when I first bought him. Haven’t really got many photos of the “in-between” stages. But he was a standard Lupo 1.4s. Nothing more, now he’s a little more exciting. So here he is just after I bought him. As standard as you can get. This is about half a year later, as you can see, quite a bit has changed. (Lowered, modded lights/ indicators , Tarantula alloys, wind deflectors, a load of other stuff I can’t think of.) Rear end, partially smoked and yellow tinted lights, wiper blank, stickers. Pressed plates. Splitter. Still a load to be done, spacers are on their way for the rears, fronts will then be done eventually, got some plans for the steering wheel to be changed and hopefully straight through exhaust at some point, body work needs some attention and the wheels need a good refurb. oh and here’s the gearstick and gator. Cherry/Pro Bomb fitted. Mainly bought for the fact it’ll annoy the people that live nearby. 25mm Rear Spacers fitted also. Still need to get passenger side rear wheel painted gold, along with returning the others.
  16. Selling my fantasia green Lupo, Alpie. Located in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. Great 1.4 Auto drives well with 6 months MOT no advisories. paint work is a little rough around the edges but no rust. remote central locking and alarm installed and fully working. Interior is in good condition. Electric windows. The switch for the passenger window on the drivers side only brings the window up but not down but switch works perfectly fine on the passengers side. wing mirrors don't adjust from inside. Car is a great little runaround and will be sad to see it go. Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions. Mileage: 84576 Price: £850 Thanks. Jon
  17. I've just purchased a Lupo Sport 1.4 and I'm looking to do a back box delete, and hopefully add a race tube in the near future. Ideally, a sportex system is in my price range and I like the sound of those, however I don't know which ones will fit my SPORT model? Also if anyone has any links to a race tube or mid pipe for it please link! Cheers
  18. Hello, Looking for a lupo 1.4tdi as a commuter. Only seen 1 on auto trader but it's in Scotland, so a little too far; (393 miles), to not know if it's any good. Live near Banbury but happy to travel 100+ miles for the right car. If the car has been maintained with FSH, i would be happy to buy one with around 150k miles on. Preferably no rust but I know these cars are getting on a bit. Thanks for looking.
  19. Hello fellow VW lovers ? New member here, hope you are all living the dream... I'm a Mk4 golf owner and I know this is a lupo forum but I have a little 1.4 Axp engine and interested in the mods you do to the little engines here. Currently I'm working on my car, valve job, clean up, tappets, timing belt kit and just looking around because I have her opened up and curious on what you are doing here ☺
  20. Hey guys, my first day on forum and post, so bare with me if im breaking some laws lol. I have a VW Lupo 1.4 2001 plate. I want to do a MAJOR service on it but want to be sure i buy all the proper and correct parts and tools, so if someone could answer my following questions would really appreciate it. 1) Spark plug change - What size spark plug socket is needed to remove the spark plugs / Does it need to be a deep socket or will regular size work? 2) Engine oil - What grade do i need / How many litres? / Bit of a toughh one but does anyone also know what VW specification number (usually on back of oil bottle) i should be using 3) Oil filter - appears to come with a hex adaptor attached to it (when looking at pictures) to help sockets remove it. does anyone know what size socket it is? 3) Oil sump nut - Does anyone know what size socket is needed for the bolt on the sump. If there are any tips or tricks people may want to warn me about when doing these jobs please feel free to help me making mistakes Sorry for all the questions but if anyone could help it would be great. thanks
  21. Hi , i bought a sport about 3/4 weeks ago, and last friday lost some power when coming home from work. Turns out cylinder 1 is misfireing, changed the plugs and leads and had no luck , i tried a few used coil packs and none of them fixed the issue. The car was loosing coolant but doesn't seem to burn any, no mayo on oil cap, if the car runs for 5 mins it struggles to start again or at all. A lot of white smoke is coming out of the crank breather that goes to the air filter, and a lot of oil on the filter. any ideas? Could it be the head gasket or something else? Like rings or valves? cheers
  22. Welcome to the build thread for my Lupo S 1.4 16v. To start with I picked the car up from Maidstone and drove it back to Colchester...Kinda... The alternator died on the way home and I lost power in the outside lane of the M25 I eventually got it home, and now it's been repaired I can start work on it! It's been a fustrating week planning the car out and not having it here to do anything to it. So first thing, the radio it came with is awful and the door speakers are blown... Down to Halfrauds and I did a buy! Fitted the Head Unit with no issues, just waiting on speaker adapters and some other bits in the post till my next update.
  23. So since it's my 18th today, i thought now would be a good time to introduce Loopy (Very original name, i know... ) I bought a soft blue 1.4 Lupo for my first car, and i just wanted to start my build thread as i have a lot of plans for it. First off, this is her: (sorry for the bad quality images. A better camera is in the works) I've started off with little things whilst I'm still getting used to the car: (The nasty looking plates are going...the DVLA spelt my name completely wrong on my ownership documents, so i have to wait for them to come back correct so i can get some nice pressed ones ) My dad is a big inspiration to me, and is just as excited for me to get my car as i am. He came to me and said "so when are you getting your coilovers so we can fit them?" Seeing as I've paid for everything off my own back so far, he helped me out with a few things: Pioneer stereo and pre-amped sub. I owe him a pint or two So far, I've gone as far as Wednesbury in her, and i have plans to travel to manchester too. I'm also really into bmx, so im very pleased that the seats fold down I purchased a HID Kit, and also new brake pads when it went through its MOT and they came up on the advisory along with a nearly bald tyre, of which caused me to replace all four. Its crazy how much of a difference there is in the brightness and clarity. I got some free LED sidelights in with the kit as a gift, and so fit them too: I have a few other things planned, but for now im happy with her and will be holding off on anything else for a little while. Some smaller updates will no doubt come through soon, but nothing major. Thanks for reading. Mylo
  24. Lupo 1.4 set of 4 original Lupo steel wheels required for new drivers car insurance. Will collect near London. Please help me!
  25. Soooo, I want to take out my coilovers and replace them with the originals or as near to them as possible. I was advised that the back ones could be taken out no problem and a replacement would not be needed but apparently the front strut and things will be needed to be changed or altered, I'm not sure what is needed to be done. I just want to take out both rear and front coilovers and get it back to sitting at normal height, what is needed to be done and bought thankyou!! Will other models of lupos have similar parts that I need? p.s it is a 1.4 vw lupo tdi sport 2003
