  1. so i knew i had an iffy front wheel bearing when i got my car back in august but due to cost i didn't replace it but gradually its got worse and worse then i hit a pot hole and then i could hear it over my music at volume 55 my speakers clip at 58 sub cuts out at 59 so yehh was very very loud and could feel it in pedals and was snatching the steering so i got the wheel bearing and after about an hour trying to get the c clip out then another 40 min pressing the old shell out this is what was making the noise so yehh got my moneys worth out of it just got the other side to do but have got to do a CVjoint at the same time so postponed that till later in the week
  2. Right so i bought my self A set of, Cades eros alloy wheels for my 1999 vw lupo 1.4 16 v Here they are: they are 15" x 6.5, 100 x 4 with et 30. the issue i'm having is actually with the front wheels. when the wheels are mounted to the front they actually hang over the bell and have actually ground the pads and the inside of the wheels away. Why this is happening I don't know. it has me absolutely baffled. Measurements have been took of the pads and the discs and everything are the sizes that they should be. any advice would be appreciated. Thanks guys

  4. OK guys, upon deciding what wheels to go for and whether they would fit. I used a Tyre guide calculator and came up with a number of options. I also noticed people were asking about the same type of wheels and if they would fit. Below is a quick Photoshop of how a variety of wheels compare to each other and should give you a better understanding if they will fit or not. Simple to read, provided some annotation. Enjoy. Tyre sizes Original VW wheel 185/55/14 Banded Steel 175/50/13 Minilite 145/60/13 Weller 175/50/13 Wire 155/55/14 Porsche teledial 165/45/15 These may not be the tyre size you want but good enough for you to gauge. The image is a little small on this forum so if anyone wants the full A4 size one just ask.
  5. Out of interest, will a 2000 mk3 seat ibiza cupra steering wheel fit onto my 2004 mk2 arosa ? Cheers Chris
  6. My GTI has developed a whirring noise, as in it goes "whir whir whir whir", as opposed to a constant whine. It's not a normal gearbox whine, as it makes the noise when coasting in neutral, but can only be heard at certain speeds. When you increase speed the pitch doesnt change, but the the spaces between the 'whirs' get closer together. It is more noticeable at lower speeds i.e. 30 below and different road surfaces seem to change the volume. It can be felt through the floor at certain speeds (when it's at its loudest) Now, if it were the gearbox, would the noise still be present in neatrual? This is what makes me think its a wheel bearing. However, there is no play in the wheel bearings!
