    HELP WANTED : AUB/AVY HYBRID

Hello First time posting here, Ive been told that the AUB cylinder head can be used to build the popular AFH/AVY hybrid, I understand the cams and pulleys are different, I have built the engine and tried to turn it over, my lupo sport originally had an AUB unit but the engine seized so I used the head to build my hybrid which is AUB/AVY as I was told it would run with a map. The engine turns over but struggles on the compression stroke, as if the starter is weak but I checked it and it is fine. I am wondering if anyone has built a hybrid either using the AUB or AFK successfully and if I could ask them some questions to sort some teething issues I am currently experiencing myself.

New snowflakes, what do you think? Also what other mods could I do that are reasonably cheap but give the car a completely different look, was thinking about getting some Genuine VW mudflaps and wind deflectors.

  7. Hi guys, I'm doing a project for my final year dissertation and I'm in desperate need of a power run data sheet for a STANDARD 2001 1.0L 49BHP VW LUPO. I'm looking at integrating a water injection system to the engine to reduce NOx emissions, I need the power run data to see what power(kw) the car is producing at certain speeds, without this info I won't be able to calculate the maximum water the engine can take in before it starts knocking or before it hydro-locks. Maybe one of you guys had your Lupo on the dyno and have a pic of the power run? I'd be grateful. Cheers

    1.8T Lupo Conversion

Ended up buying my old 1.0e lupo back! For the grand price of £100 with a thermostat issue. (Which I've now fixed) rather than F about trying to make a 1.0 go faster, I've decided to push myself and go for a 1.8T, now I know a few people have done this already so really I'm just looking for some guidance on what I'll need (engine mounts, master cylinder, gearbox, driveshafts, ECU, loom, code of the engine) in essence the essential to have it up and running. the car is currently on FK coilovers, banded staggered steelies, and the back completely stripped! Heres some photos of what it looks like now and some what it looked like before I sold it the first time
  10. Hi I have a 02 lupo 1.0 with 175/65r13 steels Just got a new set of alloys ( VW Avus Scala snowflakes) and was hoping someone could help me find out what size tyre I need and/or if I need a spacer. http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C411849
  11. Hi first post. I got my first car a few months back. Bought it cheap to learn to drive in. One problem is the exterior locks on both doors are falling out. As you can see i can bang them back in but someone could easily pull them out and walk off with them at the moment ? Anyone know a quick cheap fix that will get them more secure?

  14. Welcome to the build thread for my Lupo S 1.4 16v. To start with I picked the car up from Maidstone and drove it back to Colchester...Kinda... The alternator died on the way home and I lost power in the outside lane of the M25 I eventually got it home, and now it's been repaired I can start work on it! It's been a fustrating week planning the car out and not having it here to do anything to it. So first thing, the radio it came with is awful and the door speakers are blown... Down to Halfrauds and I did a buy! Fitted the Head Unit with no issues, just waiting on speaker adapters and some other bits in the post till my next update.

  17. Hello everyone, In my Lupo 3L beta radio, the search function (<< | >>) does not work - when pressed, it does not change the fm radio - I need to use the manual selection (< | >). The scan function works well. What could be the problem? Thank you!! Jet
  18. I have owned my little Arosa since 2003 and sadly time has come to pass on ownership. I have changed jobs and moved to live near where I work - I don't need a third car anymore. Will be sad to see it go. This car brought me to membership here back in the day. Make: Seat Model: Arosa MOT: 25 February 2018 (https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/) TAX: Buyer responsible Engine size: 998cc Fuel type: Petrol Description including modifications: 3rd owner from new. Commuter car, so low mileage which can be verified from the above MOT history link. Service pack, 2 keys, and lots of receipts held. Had a lot of extras from new - believe it was a demo model, central locking, ABS, Air con, adjustable steering wheel, 5 speed, genuine Seat floor mats and aftermarket overmats. Car has been maintained to high specs. Last major work Aug 2015 when camshaft was replaced (worn on one rocker), and a full timing belt/water pump change carried out. Approx mileage was 85k when this was done. Had a comprehensive service undertaken including spark plugs and leads. Discs and pads are still good for many miles (had Brembo items fitted many years ago and have hardly worn them). Very good tyres all around - rears look barely used. New middle and rear exhaust (Jan 2017). The car is in good condition for it's age, has marks and dings you would expect for a London car that occasionally receives unwarranted attention from yobs in passing. Interior is reasonable but can be cleaned up - the drivers seat bolster is showing some slight wear, and the interior has a few marks and scratches. There is slight bubbling on the rear wheel arch and a scratch on the other following an encounter with an exposed cable. Have done some motorway miles recently and car handles really well on the motorway at the legal speed limit. Location: Potters Bar / Croydon - car is registered in PB where I used to live, and as I have moved can also be seen where I now live if easier to get to. Images: See and judge for yourself Price: £*** ovno (may include some extras). Call beeftex (Rifa-Cat) on 07934 464 058 or send me a text message.

    New. USELESS. HELP

Hi guys. I'm new to the forum and am pretty useless with knowing how to mod a car. I drive an 18 year lupo 1.0l and she's a dream. She has some pretty decent denting to the left front wheel arch that's been partially pulled out but was wondering would a body kit replace that panel? If not, what would and suggestions please? She's in the fantasia green colour

    Loopy the 1.4

So since it's my 18th today, i thought now would be a good time to introduce Loopy (Very original name, i know... ) I bought a soft blue 1.4 Lupo for my first car, and i just wanted to start my build thread as i have a lot of plans for it. First off, this is her: (sorry for the bad quality images. A better camera is in the works) I've started off with little things whilst I'm still getting used to the car: (The nasty looking plates are going...the DVLA spelt my name completely wrong on my ownership documents, so i have to wait for them to come back correct so i can get some nice pressed ones ) My dad is a big inspiration to me, and is just as excited for me to get my car as i am. He came to me and said "so when are you getting your coilovers so we can fit them?" Seeing as I've paid for everything off my own back so far, he helped me out with a few things: Pioneer stereo and pre-amped sub. I owe him a pint or two So far, I've gone as far as Wednesbury in her, and i have plans to travel to manchester too. I'm also really into bmx, so im very pleased that the seats fold down I purchased a HID Kit, and also new brake pads when it went through its MOT and they came up on the advisory along with a nearly bald tyre, of which caused me to replace all four. Its crazy how much of a difference there is in the brightness and clarity. I got some free LED sidelights in with the kit as a gift, and so fit them too: I have a few other things planned, but for now im happy with her and will be holding off on anything else for a little while. Some smaller updates will no doubt come through soon, but nothing major. Thanks for reading. Mylo

    Just saying Hi

Hi, just wanted to stop and say Hi to everyone. Recently got myself Lupo 1.4 16V 2001 and as you can imagine it will come up with some issues. So far I got the first issue with alternator not charging but will see what else may turn up. I did own a VW Beetle 1974 many years ago and the restoration toke me over 1 year but in the end was amazing. Anyway, this in the past and after saying goodbye to my Golf 2 years ago I decide now to take my chance on Lupo. Hopefully, I will find some cool knowledge and advice here. Many thanks Georgi

    VW Lupo Oil Light Beeper

Hi all, Been reading through a few topics on this but cant find a definate answer. My oil light keeps beeping at me when the car is getting to hot, or so it seems. Im not too bothered about this as the car runs perfectly fine. Does anybody know where i can find the speaker for the beeping noise so i can cut the wire to stop it from annoying me. And if anybody knows how i can fix this problem then that would be greatley appreciated. For now i just want to stop the beeping until i have the time and can be bother to attempt to diagnose the problem. Thanks in advance for your help Danny
  24. Im a bit late creating this thread, its been on RetroRides for a while. So ill throw all the pictures on here and then continue to log progress. Up to date as of today. If a mod could move to Project Cars I would be appreciative.
