  1. So, the poor little engine in my 1.0 Lupo is on its last legs. And rather than trading her in for a new cari want to change the engine. Too many memories and all that. But, as I'm sure everyone's aware 1.0 engines are like rocking horse **** to find, and also not giving me enough go. So my question is, I'm planning to source and put in a 1.2. I'll obviously change the clutch plate too but is there anything else that'll need changing? Engine mounts etc. Or is it a straight swap? Cheers, Tom
  2. Hi , just bought a Lupo 1.0 E without PAS and I'm wondering which tyres will give me the least heavy steering . The Conti Eco Contact on now are very heavy and wooly (I've had the tracking done). Any suggestions for 155/70 R13's ?(quite a few good tyres aren't done in that size) I'm looking at Goodyear Duragrip or Dunlop Street Response. Qualities I'm after are lightness of steering , low road noise and reasonable grip (in the wet since I live in Wales!), and if they helped soak up the potholes rather than transmitting the bumps that would be nice. Any help much appreciated.
  3. Hi guys! So i've brought this cute little lupo as my first car since i wanted a car of a certain quality and something which would be fun to drive. It's a light Blue lupo 1.0 from 1999, which will get some mods as the funds raise for it. So far I've swapped out the wheels for some VW Motorsport RIAL rims, debadged and sharan sized badge on the rear and changed the stereo to a MFD unit for the pure OEM look. Im always looking for new ideas and mods for the car, and like everyone might suggest, i know i need more low, but i need to save up the money for new suspension parts until then, this is what I got: And with the new Sharan badge in place: and some lousy interior photos:
  4. 5. Morning All, I've recently had to replace the high level brake light on my 05 GTi, obviously the spoiler had to come off and sadly wasn't in the best of states so needed a respray. Anyway it's been sprayed twice now by the body shop and both times I've ended up with bubbles in the finish, they've said its common with Fibreglass parts due to the air inside working its way to the surface when the temperature changes. Does anyone know a way around this, they've said they can't bake it obviously and that there's no way around it but I was hoping one of you guys may have had one sprayed yourselves and know a trick or a better bodyshop who can do it. I'm in the Walsall area. Thanks Ste
  6. The Engine Management Warning light is permanently on in in Lupo 1.0 E from 2003. I need the fault codes to be read and interpreted to help me determine what needs to be done. As on low budget (daughters car) I am looking for somebody in the Crawley / Redhill / Gatwick area who perhaps can help if having a VAG-COM handy. Thanks C
  7. Good evening all! I've been around on this forum for quite a while now and thought I would introduce myself and my little car now I have some photos and stuff done to it! Bought her actually a couple of years ago now before I passed my test, 35000 miles on the clock for £1900 and in sweet condition! She stayed standard for like agesss 'cause I was a poor/lazy A level student with no job. But lo and behold I've joined the 9 to 5 crew and finally have MONIES. So pic of her standard when I bought her So far mods are: Lowered 40mm Spax springs Crap Vibe subwoofer thing & Sony head unit (needed my choonage) Black Badges (upside down back one 'cause it kinda resembled an 'M' ) De-wipered rear Mudflappers ... and that's about it. PLANS: Coilies Wheels Door mirrors - got some cheeky little chrome bullet style ones already, pic up soon. Colour code bumpers Thinking of some custom graphics hmm.. Some more shiny stuff Enough speech, here she is as of now ....and you may ask why "Nody" - my dyslexic friend attempted to write "Noddy" on the back of my car but missed out a 'd' so Nody she became. Teehee. Ciao.Mx
  8. just fitted some ap coilovers to my lupo 1.0L an took it for its first drive and the steering is out >.< if the wheels are straight the steering wheel is turn slightly to the left .everything else works fine an it was fine before fitting the coilovers .so if u got five minutes can u give me some advice please.
  9. Passsed by it today on my way to get mines MOT'd which it unsurprisingly failed! Looking proper low and loving the wheels!

  13. finally got my Lupo Tdi, its my second car, the first was a 1.0 red seat arosa travelled 14 hours from Leeds to Cardiff and back to get her home the guy lied quite a lot when selling the car as it had lots of scratches, some quite deep, as well as the paint being down to the primer on the front bumper. Also on the way home i had gearbox problems, it wouldnt go from 5th to 4th or 4th to 3rd, yet it would do 3rd to 4th and 4th to 5th so this was a real worry as it proved dangerous on the motorway. Yet when the car was cold or going below 20mph the gears worked fine He's a black tdi with full colour coded interior, which means blue/black leather seats and headrests, leather gaiter and handbrake cover, leather upper door cards, leather stitched steering wheel, cup holders, heated seats, sport alloys etc etc after a four hour clean: my old car: still lots to do so i'll keep you posted: - bee sting ariel - colour code badge - paint callipers - sort out paintwork - fix gearbox (if i can?) - clean interior (boot full of dog hairs) - Fix speakers (cracked) - paint door handles (scratched) - New alloys - Lowering - new Grill - rear spoiler - re-map? thanks for taking the time to look, any comments would be appreciated

  17. Last year i purchased a lupo GTI from scotland, yes thats right, scotland. So after a plane, bus, train and taxi journey with my boyfriend, we arrived and took a chance on this bloody car, biggest impulse buy of my life, but what a treat i got! The car did'nt show great signs at first, in the first 5 mins of looking at the car, the body work was a tad shabby, the handle to pop the bonnet snapped off in my hand, the engine bay ws horrific, the boot looked like it had been smooth by a retard, which had rusted and cracked all round, to be fair the lady was ovbiously a beast on photoshop, as the car in the advert pictures made it look immaculate! I bought it any for very cheap! We then had to face the 9 hour drive back to england, in a car we barely new, no biggy. In scotland When i brought her, day after, new coilies on, chillin with the mk5! got bored on black winter wheels, went with purple... new induction kit in purple & new engine cover, whole engine bay needs a good scrub! chillin' prepping & cleaning for Ultimate dubs!! Best Sticker...... Auto Glym Sesssssshion!! glittery mirror & leather interor! so this is my boot i picked at it... alot!!! second layer of filler, after i de rusted it and cleaned it all up! all done now boot is ready for the next stage... ooossssh Great shot from down shift from the South Meets VIP BBQ 2 HavAir Another amazing shot at recent South Meet VIP BBQ @ HavAir Lupo @ Prept Brands Hatch, Chillin', this was the last time she was out before going to Dsign Vinyl!!! day before she goes to dsign vinyl, new bonnet bra! got a suprise in the post today, 20m of my vinyl @ Dsign Vinyl, fully clay barred the car & smoothed out the dent on the top of the door, ready for wrapping first door wrapped, looks balla bonnet fully wrapped nearly there boots had final sand down for perfection reasons & bumper been wrapped, very happy so far! grill & number plate off, cleaned all the **** off of everything, de greased everything, this car have never had so much love & attention!
  18. at the moment im driving a 1.4s 75bhp and thing of the future (2-3 years) im thing about getting a lupo GTI 125bhp but what puts me of is i dont like the lupo gti front bumper, is there any way you can fit the lupo sport bumper or any basic body kits you can get to change it. if not ill have to think about an engine change but i dunno if i could be bothered with all that work lol and this is just my personal opinion and i do like what some of you have done with your GTI's but its just not for me.

  21. Hey guys, just got my first car last weekend... a silver 1ltr lupo. I have some thoughts as to what i want to do with it so any feedback from you guys would be most appreciated - First thing i wanna do is get the back 3 windows tinted... not thinking of going too dark, but just so you can still slightly see through. - Then i wanna lower it... any help on some coil overs and springs would be great... dont wanna go ridiculous, maybe 40mm or 60mm - Get the roof wrapped gloss black. - Black out the badges - Get new alloys (some suggestions would be great) - Roof bars - New speakers any other suggestions from you guys would be most appreciated Heres some picture for you too look at... Hope you guys like

  24. Hello, I'm a new member to CL and I'm 16. Basically, I've been looking to get a 1.0L. Lupo for my first car and I will be going into the dub scene of course! In doing so, I'd like to get a GTI "kit" on it. Such as grill, front bumper, rear bumper, spoiler and side skirts basically. Also i'd like to get a bonnet which covers a bit of the light. But is this actually possible? I'll be looking to buy a lupo 1L. in black from the reg 2000-2005. Also if this is possible could you fellow Lupo'ers send me links where I can get the GTI stuff from other than GTI's breaking on ebay. Cheers, Jack
