  1. Hi am new to club lupo so dont know if am posting this in the right place to get reply's ;p I am wanting to know is i can put a 1.0 gearbox into my sport without any modifications. I know I have to buy the 1.0 clutch kit but just wanting to know if that's all i need to do or will it not go straight on? Thank you for your help. Need to know ASAP as each day my boss needs to pick me up for work :/
  2. Hey! I'm in urgent need for a 1.7 lupo gear box as mine unfortunately has kicked the bucket! I've been looking everywhere for one but unfortunately can't get one for a decent price! If anyone knows of a lupo 1.7 being sold for parts or even if a 1.7 gear box is going for sale can you please point them in my direction! Im not coping very well without my wee lupo Thanks!
  3. As the topic reads, I have a gearbox problem. It started today. I noticed that second gear was progressively getting harder to shift into, to the point where I can only shift into it when accelerating to approximately 3000 revs, and it takes some force to shift into second. In any other circumstance I have to skip second gear and shift straight into third. The car has recently had a new clutch. I cannot enter second gear when sat still either, the stick just stops, like it has come into contact with something. It just won't budge. Could anyone share some ideas as to what it could be? All other gears are perfectly fine. I had some trouble with fifth a couple of weeks back but it just resolved itself, this however has got really bad in the space of two 4 mile journeys :/ Help much appreciated. Thanks, Dan.
  4. hi everyone, im new to the vw lupo, just bought one to try fix up, not bothered about how much its gonna cost to fix, its a project so heres my problems i have a similar problem as a previous post - Gearbox problems [uPDATED] Leaking! pics! ** same pics as this person but no putty stuff on mine also ** when i try to select a gear it doesnt work, only 3rd and 4th work if i try to select 1st, it then slides into the centre into 3rd if i try to select 2nd, it then slides into the centre into 4th i noticed the gear selector rod under the car, the socket had worn and the person had just cable tied it on got a new bit but still the same problem if you drive the car you can move off in 3rd, i have it up on ramps with the front bumper off at the moment so i can access it a bit better, im gonna remove the exhaust system next to get access to the gear selector cables as this might be my next part to check before replacing the gearbox i have the elsawin software for reference when taking the car apart please if anyone could help me get it touch cheers dave
  5. So my car has been in for a new clutch as i was told by 2 garages this was the problem. After the clutch being fitted it was fine and drivable but was still making the same grinding noise and a whining noise when the clutch was all the way down to the floor, when easing off the accelerator also when changing from 2nd to 1st it would whine and be hard to change gear. I nearly got home and then halfway up the hill my car started spinning so i slowed and changed into first (****ing snow) and then my car stalled and got stuck in first , i left it on the hill and went back to it after about half a hour it came out of gear fine but couldnt drive and now it stalls when in neutral and will drive like it is first gear but it is neutral. Please help me as i think ive cooked the gearbox could it be the pinion bearing rattling inside the gearbox ? Any help would be much appreicieted , Many thanks Jason. Btw my cars a lupo 1.4s 75bhp 2000 on a v , with 128k . HHHHEEEEELLLPPPPPPPPPP.
  6. so my car keeps whining but its temperamental as in sometimes it will and sometimes it won't when it does the whining increases with revs. i hadn't noticed it until i had a new clutch and release bearing replaced. i hope its not going to die but this will really top off my year.
  7. Hi, i'm new to the forum and was hoping to get some help on a few problems i'm having on my arosa. The Car: Mk1 'T' reg arosa, 1 litre, 95,000 miles have been noticing a wearing / whining noise coming from the gearbox when gearing down into first or second but didn't think anything of it and now the whining is happening between 30 and 70 in fifth. The noise disappears when i put the clutch down, so i suspect its something to do with the clutch or gearbox; have changed the gearbox oil but has made no difference. And have check the wheel bearing and all seems good. My brother had a 6n2 1 litre polo which made a similar noise and turned out it was the thrust release bearing on the clutch, could that be the same problem? Has anyone had the same problem or could shed some light on it? Thanks.
  8. Title: LUPO 1.4 16v GEARBOX FOR SALE. Description: The gearbox was in great working condition, no crunches, whining etc. The mileage on the car was just under 70k.. Its was from the 75bhp model. Location: SUTTON COLDFIELD Postage: COLLECTION ONLY. Price: £150 ovno...
  9. My GTI has developed a whirring noise, as in it goes "whir whir whir whir", as opposed to a constant whine. It's not a normal gearbox whine, as it makes the noise when coasting in neutral, but can only be heard at certain speeds. When you increase speed the pitch doesnt change, but the the spaces between the 'whirs' get closer together. It is more noticeable at lower speeds i.e. 30 below and different road surfaces seem to change the volume. It can be felt through the floor at certain speeds (when it's at its loudest) Now, if it were the gearbox, would the noise still be present in neatrual? This is what makes me think its a wheel bearing. However, there is no play in the wheel bearings!
