    Exhaust modding

Hey guys, quick question, has anyone tried modding their backboxes? What i plan to do is cutting the "piggy tail", downwards facing small pipe from the back box, drill a lower hole in the backbox (should be possible, since the backbox is oval ) - that should give some room to pull a straight pipe with chrome tips that doesn't need bumper cutting.
  3. Looking for a few parts for my GTI, after trying my luck on the Facebook group but nobody seems to be able to help. - Lower Passenger GTI doorcard - Decat Manifold - Stainless Exhaust system - Leather Interior - GTI Gearknob Money waiting, will highly appreciate any responses. Cheers.

    Back box help :)

Hey I want to get a new back box for my car, to make it louder and sound better, but I don't know whether to go straight through, or to order a new one. I don't really want to spend lots of money on it but was thinking about buying a sportex one from ebay, has anyone got any reviews on them or know any better alternatives for roughly the same price I'm looking for something that sounds nice but isn't stupidly loud. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Lupo-1-0-1-4-Sportex-Exhaust-Tailbox-Single-3-/351123754212?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item51c09b4ce4 Any help will be appreciated Thanks
  8. Hi There I am looking about purchasing a Ashley 4-1 exhaust manifold but i was wondering if this would make much difference to a 1.4 lupo and if so, how noticable is it?
  9. Hi guys, I have been given a universal back box and really want to fit it, I've seen a few lupos where the tip sits underneath the bumper. I was wondering how you actually do that? I've got a 1.4 75bhp model. Any help will be much appreciated!
  10. hi iv had a 1.0l lupo for a couple years and iv lowered it and fitted some wider wheels but i couldn't see the point in making it any faster. but i just bought a gti lupo about a month ago. its completly standard but will be getting kw coilovers and some wide wheels (not sure what yet) i want to modify the engine to get it a bit quicker and the first thing will be the exhaust system. so any ideas? iv been looking at the scorpion cat back system so if anyone has any reviews of them would be useful. cheers
  11. Hello all, to anyone who can help, my Gti is currently fitted with a decat mid section and has failed the emissions test on the MOT. I have a few solutions but I need help: 1. Anyone got an exhaust I can borrow for a day? Willing to travel and pay! 2. Get a custom mid section with CAT In place. 3. Cut the decat pipe and weld a CAT in place. 4. Try and acquire the rare find that is a "full exhaust" system with all the bits on. Any other suggestions would also be appreciated, Cheers
  12. After nearly a year of owning my Loop, I have only just clocked that most other Gti's have two catalytic converters on them and mine only has one, attached to the manifold, yet the sensor part way down the mid section is still in place and the pipe seems to be OEM ? Any ideas , I'm assuming that someone has removed it , will this cause an emissions test failure ?
  13. Hi Guys, Right time for a bit of a rant! I apologise in advance. 2 weeks ago I had to park up the Arosa, as it decided to leak diesel all over the place and impersonate a v8 Took a look at it and the exhaust was in shocking condition and the fuel cooler had got a leak. So after searching all over fuel cooler and posting on here to see if there were any alternatives, I had to give in and do the one thing I hate. Take the car to a GARAGE I am fussy with the car and hate other people fiddling with it and thought I would be okay taking it to the local VAG specialist (now I will be nicer than I should and leave out their name). Got the car through to them, explained about the fuel cooler and said about the exhaust. They phoned through the next day and said they could get the fuel cooler but it would take 10 days! So I decided to let them go ahead and asked them to check over the exhaust completely. "Sure no problem, we'll call you when it's done" was the response I got. So yesterday I get the car back, and get this with it: So i was happy, apart from the amount, but no drama. It was fixed! Yay! But then...... Took it a for a drive this afternoon and something fell off.... BRILLIANT!!!! Anyway rant over... And if any of you guys are in the Aylesbury area and want to know where not to take your car feel free to PM me, Wes

  15. Hi, I'm looking to swap out the exhaust on my gti but can't seem to find many places which sell them other than kam racing. Anywhere else to look? Hoping to get the Bastuck system for a bit cheaper than what kam racing are asking - http://www.kamracing.co.uk/car-tuning/volkswagen/vw-lupo/exhaust/exhaust-systems/vw-lupo-centre-exit-models-including-gti-bastuck-catback-exhaust-system.html Not particularly keen on the Janspeed sound, but for almost half the price it might be the sensible choice - http://www.larkspeed.com/index.pl?a=i&p=JSSS520∂=VW-Lupo-Gti-1-6-16v-125bhp-Janspeed-Stainless-Steel-Cat-Back-Exhaust-System cheers
  16. Had my Lupo up on a ramp the other day at work whilst changing the oil. Noticed that my Mesh coupling next to my cat converter was a little stained. We fired up the engine and found it was leaking a little gas.. guess its only going to get worse. (also, MOT Failure???) Has anyone had this and what's the best way to resolve it, Its a complete unit to replace, with the cat converter its about £80, so not as much as most but i'm thinking i might not have to... Maybe just cut it off and weld a new one on? Found this website, couldn't believe the name either! http://www.made-in-china.com/products-search/hot-china-products/flexible_exhaust_pipe.html Theres no type of flexible mesh seal i can put on it? Thanks
  17. hi guys, looking at getting a cherry bomb exhaust for my arosa, does anyone know if they fit straight on or will i have to do some cutting? :L
  18. Was thinking about deleting the rear silencer and possibly the cat after seeing a few guys have done this on their 1.4TDIs Can anyone recomend a good place to get something like this made up... and am I dreaming if I think this can be done for under £100? haha cheers
  19. right this is my first post so here we go i currently have a 1.0 lupo E and i have just bought a gti rear bumper which i got to fit no problem but heres the massive problem it has a center exit exhaust and as far as my skills go there is no way i can fit a center exhaust peace on with the wheel well on my car being so low i got in touch with AAS and they wouldnt even touch it is there anyone on here that has done this or has any advice or ideas on how i can get this to work ? 20. Hello, Wondering about a 1.0 Lupo and a middle exhaust like the GTI version, i`m wondering if anyone has made there exhaust in the middle or have they put the gti bumpers on a non-gti lupo, this properly sounds stupid but if i could get any advice on this it would be great. Cheers
  21. Hi, im having trouble with my lupo, its hunting in idle with the revs going up and down between 700 - 1500, this has been the case for about a month or 2 now but today another problem has occured. its not revving propperly, everytime i change gear the revs climb stupidly slow with my foot to the floor until about 3-3.5k and then suddenly it kicks in and i speed off (if thats possible in a 1.0) and when pulling off ive had to redline it to stop it from stalling, i stalled 7 times on my 3 mile journey back from work i have read a few posts with similar problems and various attempts and fails at fixing them but there all old, anybody have any light on what will be the definitive cause of this and how to fix it. Also its blowing somewhere near the manifold which a friend of mine thinks may be a split flexipipe but this has only happened the last couple of days and the hunting in idle has been happening alot longer, could the 2 issues be connected? Please help with this, ive heard some people spend around £500 trying to solve this problem and having no luck and if thats going to be the case id be better off selling it but i dont want to see linda go.
  22. okay so, i had this crazy idea that putting a motorbike end can on my arosa would be a good idea o.O... just wondering if any1 else has done it and how did it turn out? also does putting a reducer on the exhaust effect performance much? .. the exhaust behind the back box has a diamater of 1.75" but the exhaust i have lieing around is only like 1.275" would it effect it much and would it make the straight thru exhaust end can quieter?
  23. Hi, I'm planning to go to Germany this year in my 1.4 Lupo, but just for a laugh I want a loud exhaust for the trip! I've already looked at cherry bombs but I think they'd be too loud! Ideally I'm looking for something cheap, doesn't require me cutting into the standard exhaust and will just make it sound louder! any ideas? thanks from Lewis
  24. i really need some help, I'm need to replace my rear exhaust box however the ones im looking at are all different. my lupo is a 1.4 16v 100bhp with the centre exhaust. there are some sportex ones on ebay. the sellers say they will fit however my exhaust hangers look different? my rear box looks like this ebay item no. 230621645877 however i dont really want to spend £200 . any suggestions?
  25. Have had a quick look round about de cating my lupo sport and have heard something about a cat and pre cat? One being under the car the other being in the manifold, can someone please clear things up as I would like to de cat it but if it's in the manifold I don't have £££'s to get a de cat manifold or if it's under the car then is it possible to get a de cat section made? Any help would be great, thanks!
