  1. Okay so tonight I put my deposit down on this sweet little green 1.4 Lupo Sport, 84k on the clock, a few scratches but rad for a first car. For a first car, yes being 20 and only just getting his first car, laugh it up! I have a good few plans for her, first being cleaned and cleaned again, then slammed....as you do.... Already have done a mock up of what i want the dash to look like.... hope to chat soon! Alex
  2. Planning on buying some new coilovers on Friday(pay day) as I've just sold mine. Looking at spending up to £200, so budget coilovers basically, what would people recomend? Preferably ones that go the lowest, I know I can take adjusters/helpers out and what not! Ones that have caught my eye are the TA-TECHNIX kit on eBay for £173 Cheers in advance
  3. Morning all! I recently bought myself this lovely little loop, so this is my first post on here, and just wanted some advice on the first steps to take to improve the old girl! Well, here she is: Basically any advice on what modifications would look good? any and all opinions welcome! oh and what lowering springs would you lot recommend? as i cant afford coilovers for a long time and those arch gaps are awful!
  4. Hi guys, just introducing myself as i am new here. After looking through everyone else's i thought id finally post some pics. Anyway i have got myself a 1.4s in good condition in storm grey with exceptionally low mileage, just 17000, 04 plate with a couple of minor marks. For now i have just made some minor mods to start with. such as de badged rear, stubby aerial and pressed plates. Hopefully going to get some coilovers in a few months and then go from there. After a wash and wax i decided to blitz the interior. Stripped back my rusty drums and painted them black. Apologies for the super dirty arch liners they are next on my list. Also painted my rusty steels.
  5. just wondering how low 100mm front and 70mm back would look, i dont want to buy them and not be pleased with the outcome, ]i was looking at these, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271284312244?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
  6. I've come across some coilovers for my lupo that are dirt cheap. The only thing is that the rear shocks aren't there and it is only the springs. I am not convinced this is how they came out of the factory, although the guy assures me it is, and that my standard rear shocks would not be up to the job with springs that lower the car 80/90mm. What are your opinions guys?!
  7. Hi Damien/anyone else reading Im looking at getting a budget set of coilovers for my arosa. Ive looked through various threads and various people have various comments/opinions regarding various brands, and it clouds the air for those new to the car. So this is help for me and any future newbies. (So please dont let this thread get full of petty arguments) Obviously the more expensive you go, the better the engineering thats gone into the set up, design and manufacture, however, i'm cheaping on this arosa as much as I can as its just a dirty daily. I dont want a crazy drop, just a tighter ride, being used to my 300zx, standard ride height is almost causing sea sickness feelings as it wallows so much! I've seen on the dpm website the following: JOM coilovers for £185 http://www.dpmperformance.co.uk/jom-coilover-suspension-kitbr-arosa-10-14-14tdi-17sdi-0697-p-8189.html FK AK coilovers for £195 (but currently out of stock) http://www.dpmperformance.co.uk/fk-ak-street-coilover-suspension-kitbr-arosa-10-14-14tdi-17sdi-0697-p-9581.html Prosport coilovers for £209 http://www.dpmperformance.co.uk/prosport-coilover-suspension-kitbr-arosa-10-14-14tdi-17sdi-0697-p-9443.html So I'd like sensible reviews and comparisons between these 3 sets or similarly priced sets, as a guide for me and anyone else who cant squeeze for the higher caliber brands. Could include: Ride quality Ease of adjustment Ease of installation Corrosion resistance Horror stories? Thanks for your time Alex
  8. Just fitted these on lupo front bumper on floor and back has not really done much and winded em all the way down not done much anyone got any idears to make back lower
  9. Hi, so i'm looking to buy some coilovers and have been looking around at different ones and this is some that I have found in the budget range :- Jom Coilovers £189 Fk Ak Street £185 Ta Technix £189 then into the higher price being :- Ap Coilovers (straight from AP) £385 Fk Highsport £355 There are probably many others around but I have hear some bad reviews about different ones, was wondering if to spend a bit on some expensive ones or just get budget coilovers and if so what ones. Cheers
  10. it may Sound funny, but ive seen ads of coilovers specifically for gti;s and non gti;s..or for 3l only ,,so whats the difference if there is?
  11. took my rear suspension out today to change them to coilovers and the bump stops are shot to hell. i was just wondering if its worth upgrading to polybush ones or is it better to just get genuine bump stop replacements? thanks.

  13. My new engine is finally being fitted in a rush as i need the car for bugjam to get in with my VW weekend ticket! There isnt enough time to make the car something amazing for Bugjam, so i think im literally just going to have my coilovers fitted! It doesnt matter though as im not going to be showing it anyway Not enough time to fit my wheels as with my custom adaptors my arches are going to have to be pulled like crazy! Plus im still sanding down the dishes so they can be polished AND i still havnt decided on a colour for the centres.. although think i might go for grey. I have custom panels (bootlid and doors) waiting to be put on but they still need painting, boo! No point in rushing when i can take my time and have it ready for Edition38 in september!
  14. I've recently bought a 1.4 Lupo and I would like to lower it. I would only want to go down 40mm (maybe 60mm at a push) and I'm wondering how best to go about this. I've been advised to go for lowering springs rather than coilovers because a.) I don't need go go really low, as the roads around Sheffield are shocking! And b.) I've been told that coilovers offer a harsher ride over lowering springs as they are more track/B road focused. My questions are: Are there any massive disadvantages with the cheap ebay springs such as Lo Suspension and FK's?! Will I need to uprate the shocks to cope with the added stress? Also will will I need my alignment sorted for a 40mm drop? Any other suggestions and advice welcome Thanks!
  15. Hello, im Gary, im 21 from Newcastle. I've been a member on here for a while now but never really posted much. Little bit of car history, I started off with a 1.4 Lupo E which I loved! I had that about a year or so before I fancied getting something a little old school, so I picked up a 89' polo saloon, paid £400 and it only had 40000 miles on. Sadly, one night after I parked it up, a friend of mine crashed into it while he was dicking around and wrote it off! So after a few month of being off the road, I got the money from the insurance and picked up an Arosa, 1litre which stayed standard. I then lost my job and had to sell up. Once I got another job I had an urge for another mk2 polo, again a saloon which I got cheap off ebay. Had less miles than my previous one with only 30000! Again that stayed standard and I eventually got bored and decided to sell up. I went around 6 month without a car and it was awful, eventually got sick and decided I wanted another Lupo or Arosa. I found this for sale just around the corner from my house, 02 Silver 1litre with only 28000 and FSH! Was advertised for 1295 and I got it for 1175 which I was happy with. I've had insured about a week now and it drives like a new car, the body work is a bit rough, scrapes on both bumpers, both sides and rust around the petrol cap, hopefully all of which will be sorted pretty soon! I have a few plans for it, first of which is to sort the interior, it has the all light grey interior which I hate! So I have bought a Gti interior including red seat belts. Im going to wait until I find all the dark grey plastics and carpet before fitting them, but here they are, havn't got around to cleaning the fronts yet. I bought some alloys to go on the polo but never got around to getting them refurbed or fitted! So they will more than likely be refurbed and will end up on this I also picked up some brand new Cambridge rears from the dealers! They will probably go in once the paintwork is sorted! And finally, the one thing no Lupo or Arosa should be without That's what I have purchased so far, future plans are: - Get bodywork sorted - Fit all of the above - Pressed plates - Wind deflectors - Rear pop-out windows - Front fogs - Some sort of ICE (sub/amp/rear speakers) - Stubby mirrors - VW Starlite alloys Think thats about it I think! As I say I will keep updating as and when things happen, hopefully wont be too long before I get it looking how I want it! Comments/feedback appreciated! Bye for now! Gary
  16. Does anyone know or could anyone advise me how low ill have to go with my 13 inch dished wheels for my lupo , need help asap Thanks.
  17. Okay guys I'm looking for advice on what compressor, air tank etc. to have... I was thinking along the lines of a 12v compressor, 2/3 gallon air tank and some 12v solenoids Any of you run the kit?
  18. has anyone got any pictures with theirs lowered 40mm, preferably with 15" wheels, just getting an idea of what it would look like because I want to lower mine, but keep the stock dampers, also would 60mm be to much with my stock dampers? thanks
  19. Got bored of driving an everyday Corsa so decided to get a Dub. Picked up a reasonably clean 1.0 LUPO E 2000 W reg for a decent price. Done some work on it but only had it for a month, nearly ready for the road now. First task was rip the horrible bump strips off and de badge. (My Lupo on right) Next I ordered up a set of coilovers and fitted new discs & pads, Lowered it right down but was too low for a Daily Driver so raised the front a touch. Next to arrive was wheels, 15" x 7" Lenso Bsx Running 165/45/15, A bit of stretch but not too much.... just what I wanted. Apart from other small touches that's about all that I have got around to doing, pretty pleased with the results. Got a few bits of paintwork to fix up, exhaust and possibly a roof rack and i should be sorted. (Some glue left on from bump strip in this photo but it is gone now haha)
