  1. Will try and get one tomorrow. I went to show my dad the noise earlier and it started first time...typical eh.
  2. It seems to do it randomly, really hard to say. At first I thought it was just when I hadn't given the fuel pump much time to engage i.e. got in and just tried to turn the engine on straight away. But I have been leaving it a minute or two with the ignition two clicks round, and it still does it then sometimes.
  3. Whenever I try to start my Lupo for the first 1/2 times after getting in, it basically makes an awful noise, doesn't start, and just seems as though nothing is 'sparking.' I have looked into it a little bit and have realised it could be one of many problems: Starter motor, coil pack, or maybe even the ECU?! Has anyone else experienced a similar problem to this? It feels like my car is just falling apart after recently getting a new gearbox and clutch fitted!
  4. I agree, especially for a little 1.0. Would seem pretty pathetic in my opinion.
  5. Even a vague sort of answer would do guys, hoping to get this sorted tomorrow. Can you get after market back-boxes for 1.0 Lupos or not?
  6. Basically, my standard 1.0 Lupo backbox is pretty much shot...corroded to **** and just looks gash. Now my dad asked his mate (a mechanic) whether or not he would be able to sort out and fit a new one, which he obviously could. However, if I'm spending a bit of money on getting it sorted I thought I may as well make a slight improvement?! Are there any options I could take that are still cheap(ish), but would give my Lupo a slight rumble/burble. Obviously with it being a 1.0, anything stupidly loud would just be over the top and needless but my old car had a slight growl to it, and I miss it! After owning a Corsa for almost a year, and modifying that to how I wanted, moving to a Lupo has left me a bit short on ideas. Do I have to get a down-turned backbox like it currently has? Can anyone put up some links to potential items that would fulfil what I want? Cheers guys
  7. I didn't have it on fitting it no, but ordered a bit off ebay last night. The seller said it's needed to fit most head units to VWs. Is the loom to do with the aerial connection? And yeh, I live right near the RAF base, next to Tattershall.
  8. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/...tegoryId_165474 I have ordered the 'supposed' missing bit off ebay, so will see if that works and report back if it fails.
  9. Just tried fitting my Kenwood aftermarket head unit, got the correct aerial adaptor off a technician at VW, connected it all up as I did with my Corsa but when I put it on 'Tuner' it fails to find anything, and the 'RDS' light flashes on the head unit. What's up with it? I think it may be something to do with the aerial amplifier but I've not got a clue how to solve it...
  10. Popped down to VW today, and they said it could be some transmission seal leak - won't take long to check and is noticeable from a very slight bit of weeping around the gearbox. I'm going to get a diagnostics check done to see if it picks up on anything, as my car's idling revs are all over the place too. If it is this, then thank ****! Don't fancy having to sort out a new gearbox.
  11. Mine does a similar thing to this, but I've only just bought the car and don't know what to do now. It's been serviced every year but 2007 so it can't be anything major, can it?
  12. Yeh, I know. It's just the guy hasn't given any details on the aspect ration or anything. They don't look too bad on the pics, and he said in a pm that the stretch was minor so I'll go along with that. Do stretched tyres require different pressure to operate efficiently? I do apologise for these sort of question, but I am most definitely a 'noob.' lol
  13. Yeh I'm lucky to have it with alloys but they are tiny, only 13" and are like toy cars wheels.
  14. I am thinking of buying the wheels in this thread: http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=49546 It says the rears are 15 by 8.5? Am I right in thinking that is really quite wide, and it will therefore be an insane stretch to get the tyre over the rim? They look sweet, and the front seem OK being just 15 by 7 but I don't want to have any massively stretched tyres as 1) I wouldn't know how to maintain them and 2) I'm not sure how 'legal' they actually are. Thanks in advance guys.
  15. Ok thanks Simpo, I had it in my mind that it was a problem that the majority of significantly lowered Lupos experienced; so I am glad it's not. Just need to order some coilovers and get them fitted now - the fitting bit will be interesting.
