  1. Dear Chris,

I have seen your post about the ahw-bby engine swap, currently i have polo MK3 with a siezed AHW engine, i spent some good money buying a bby engine and swaped it, truth be told i dont think the wiring was done right. the car jerks violetly whenever any gear is selected. am using the original gear box, maybe you can guide me on how to properly upgrade to the bby engine

  2. standard reversed?? When the two are next to each other they are different...
  3. Hi Everyone! Hows it going? Quick question really guys, wondering if anyone can help Did a G60 brake conversion on my 1.4S about 9 months ago, car not really been used much since then, tucked up in the garage and driven on some nice days. Thing is, my steering just does not feel right.. When turning in either direction it feels like the wheel just wants to run away with itself in whatever direction I am turning. Or alternatively like the car wants to carry on in a straight line.. After the brakes were done, I had new track rod ends fitted and it was fully aligned. Soooo.. I have a thought... Obviously being a 1.4S I didn't have the correct hubs, so I sourced a pair of front GTi Hubs, complete off the car, that i stripped down and fitted. Obviously there are differences between the two hubs and also both hubs had different ball joints... (wider step out on GTi). I figured that the GTi hub upper mount had the same step out as the ball joint so fitted the GTi ball joint to my car and removed my standard S one... Its the only thing i can think of that I wasnt sure of at the time.. Was wondering if anyone had any ideas? Should I have left my standard ball joint on or fitted the GTi one? Many thanks! Chris
  4. Light Blue 3L Spotted on Thursday Morning around 9:45am near Manchester Airport heading towards M56.. Desperately tried to catch up with it but morning traffic got the better of me
  5. Tad on the expensive side! you can get them new for very little more!!
  6. I know this is an old thread.... However I just wanted to add that I have completed the AHW to BBY Conversion now and I am pleased to report that all is working fine. What mitch says about finding low mileage BBY is quite true! Picked myself up a bargain engine with only 13k on the clock One thing to add, I needed to block off the EGR outlet on the side of the BBY engine as my AHW has its EGR connected to the exhaust manifold. All is good though as VW sell a blanking plate for this. You need the plate, two screws and a gasket - costs about £5. I also couldn't find the cam case breather too until it spat in my face! Its on top of the engine next to the top right engine cover screw. Thanks go to mitch for the advice! Chris
  7. Hi Everyone! I am about to change the oil in my gear box and wondered if I was better off using the standard dealer oil or getting uprated stuff? The one I was recommended by a friend was: http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-1023-redline-heavy-shockproof-gear-oil-75w-140.aspx I have a slight grind sometimes when trying to engage 1st and reverse. Car has done 69k and I am assuming the oil has never been changed. Opinions welcomed Thanks Chris

  9. my AHW has the exact same problem.. Not a clue what it is but replaced a fair bit to try and cure it. Did you have any joy?
  10. There were two different types of heated seat switches for the Lupo. Earlier ones had smaller switches than later ones. (Earlier ones were under the head unit, later ones were under the AC controls)
  11. well i gave up on this as i didnt get anywhere and have not needed heated seats for the summer months. However the cold mornings are starting to close in and I want to have another shot at getting them wired up.. Without fitting the MK4 loom and switches into the lupo, can anyone else think how i can get this to work correct with my OEM lupo loom and switches? Thanks! Chris
