  1. i went, and agree with nicki, few knobs but not much police to be honest
  2. i must just point out that i am UNABLE to send pint thru the post!
  3. aww shucks guys! i got an image to uphold lol!
  4. they are supposed to contact the customer BEFORE doing ANY additional work! We fill out estimate sheets for the workshop at my vw dealership, giving part numbers and costs, which is then passed onto the service dept who contact the customer. This is BAD practice! And very annoying to someone who works for vw! The labour charge at my garage is £90 +vat an hour for cars under 3yrs old, and £68 +vat an hour for cars over 3 yrs old, tho i won't let on my staff rate!
  5. i'm sorry to hear of this mate, but the main thing is you're ok! there are a few on autotrader at the mo. and it was all his fault!
  6. 20k service at vw is oil, oil filter, sump plug, pollen filter (tho urs hasn't got one!) and screenwash. also visual inspection of brakes etc..... oh, and the all important stamp in the history book!
  7. i would heartily recommend vw's own Quantum Synta oil, seems to do the business for me! but then i would, i work for vw!
  8. just watch out for water ingress in the passenger footwell, comes in thru the polloen filter housing. damages the wiring loom and the conveinience ecu, and is VERY costly to repair, plus a loom is custom made by vw and tales 6-8 weeks to arrive!

    Lupo

i think AKLupo has them on his gti!
  10. i've never seen an input lead for this h/unit, as there are around 10 wires on the changer multiplug!
  11. with the vw kit, the lite shouldn't come on at all, unless ur drivers airbag has a fault! the resistor in the wiring stops the lite coming on.
  12. right, looked into this today! part no is 6x0 998 521 b and costs £31.66 inc vat at retail price. Porb not something a dealer would keep in stock, but shud be fairly easy to get hold of (can't check if vw have them on a sat tho!) have also been told that they will need to code out the airbag from the airbag ecu, which is located behind the centre console on the transmission tunnel, and a certificate stating that the airbag has been deactivated is issued with the kit for insurance and future reference purposes. i would STRONGLY recommend that this type of work is carried out at a dealer only, as these are a safety feature of the car and also meant to be there. this will also mean that the kit has been fitted professionally (which mite be required for proof if the worst were to happen), and all the neccesary paperwork will be done too.
  13. in ur case, no mate! it made no difference to the way mine drove when the lite was on, so i think you may have a deeper issue! sorry! possibly coil pack?
  14. its the heater part that goes wrong, just keeps on over-heating and blowing the fuse, puting the emmissions lite on as the same fuse controls the camshaft actuator and the charcoal cannistor!
  15. if i told you, i'd have to kill you......! easily done with some halfrauds swage tape and a lighter! ooh and a lot of patience!
  16. border="0" class="linked-image" /> <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i'll admit top nicking this photo from loopylupo, but it shows the pipe i had replaced, and the heater bit!
  17. mines not a BMC (couldn't stretch that far!) but the halfrauds copy! sounds bloody good to me tho! and only £70! border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" />
  18. in most cases, vw do a kit for deactivating the passenger airbags. think they're around the £20 mark, and include a resistor, some wires and a certificate saying that its been deactivated. i think it has to be programmed out of the ecu too, tho not 100% sure! to be safe, i'd check with ur local dealer, tho i'll ask and have a look for you tmw at work!
  19. passenger side is only available from vw with arm and blade (6x2 998 405 i think), and the drivers side has changed to 2 separate parts (6x2 955 410 c and 6x2 955 426)
  20. i think they sell just the blades at gsf and eurocarparts!
