Less power after a cambelt change
benspain_uk replied to benspain_uk's topic in Car Care, Maintenance and Mechanical
Thanks for all the help guys - looks like another trip back to the garage. Trouble is they are only open on weekdays - so it really means another day off work! Any idea as to how long the process will take? I'm guessing if it is too tight (which I will test tonight) then it is a two second job. How about if the timing is out due to the belt change? two second job to fix it - or a couple of hours to remove, set up and then replace the belt? I'll phone up the garage and ask then their advice. I guess if the timing is out, the emmisions would be bad?..... Just thinking of a quick way to fault find. -

Not a huge amount - it just doesn't feel anyway near as "peppy" as it once was. No lights on or black smoke/runnig hot so if can't be that far out.... What do you guys think? -
Less power after a cambelt change

I have just had the cambelt changed on my Lupo GTI, and the car seems to have much less power which is especially noticable at higher revs. Anyone got a clue why this would be the case? -
In short, I need a new set of tyres. I was looking to get some more Toyo's in the "correct" size, but I wondered if I could get away with a slightly different size. What about 195 x 45 R15, or 205 x 50 R15? Anyone know how big I can go without having problems at full lock? What would happen if I didn't stick to 205 x 45 R15, apart from a slightly incorrect speedo reading.....

Same thing happened to mine. Started slowing down since we had that bit of snow in Jan then a few weeks ago it just stopped mid cycle. managed to man-handle it down to the standard position. Haven't got it fixed yet, but I need the cam belt done anyway - so it's on the list...

On an un-related note - local Homebase put me on hold for 15 minutes, so I went down there (only 10 minutes away) and it turned out that the stupid bitch that put me on hold then went to lunch. She was a right miserable cow when the manager made her come and explain/excuse herself! Suppose you can't expect a lot more when you employ a load of 16 year olds.

My Girlfriends Punto (I hate that damn car....) did exactly the same thing. A bit of brute force to pop the arm back into the base of the wiper and it has been working fine for months.

40 pages of solid text in size 8.5 font (no word limit - only a page limit!) done in well under a week (not including the 12 pages in appendices and bibliography crap). Without the pressure of an impending deadline, I just write drivel, I need something like failing my degree to get me motivated. To be a student again...not having to get up at 7 to go to work....not having to go to work at all.... Live it up while you can, its downhill after uni.

Anyone else had the rear wiper grind to a halt? It has been much slower than usual since the snow a few weeks ago, but today it stopped mid cycle. tried to aid it along with some muscle, but hasn't helped (although at least I got it back to the bottom of the cycle). Any idea how much a new rear wiper motor would cost (I wouldn't think it would be Lupo GTi specific??) Also, my brakes occasionally make a kind of whirring sound when applied (but only occasionally). Any ideas? It is about time to change the disks and pads to be honest and with this, a cambelt, gearbox oil change and a service due, 2006 might well be rather costly!

I think i've found my next car. That rear spoiler is crappy, but the rest is awesome.

Perhaps, but the top picture makes it look very, very orange inside. I couldn't live with that. If it isn't orange - must be a very light colur to take up the light like that. Suppose it is just a demo car. I love the gallardo, but the Murciélago has always seemed a bit forced/fake.

Would rather have a Maserati MC12. What the hell is with that orange interior!

Mines a X reg - 55k - and is going fine (passed MOT no problems a few weeks ago!) but it is going to need a new cam belt next year. As far as I am aware - VW check it at the 60,000 mile service but it is not unheard of for it too be replaced sooner. Also - if it does go, that could cost some SERIOUS money - so i'm getting mine done as soon as christmas is paid off!

I use a neutradol order eliminator thing (squidgy rectangle full of blue gel). Does a good job of making the car not smell of anything style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> .
