thanks guys for all the advice. checked owners handbook and they say nothing about this model having an engine light, even diagram of instrument cluster doesn't show this feature. it's registered jan 2000 1.4E. maybe first models didn't have? the car goes very well and is very light on fuel. last tank 42MPG. maybe if someone has an old 1.4 they can check if their's has a light?

thanks... will take it round to a workshop tomorrow to be checked, if diagnostics show all OK then must just be the light?

Hi guys... New to the UK and to a lupo. drive a 1.4E V reg(awesome car). maybe soon will trade for a Gti.... Should the engine light come on when the ignition is on as it doesn't light up currently? Thanks...
