  1. Blue one on eBay for 2650 now
  2. Nice car! Just a heads up incase you haven't realised, but your rear wheels are on the wrong sides. The directional pattern should be going forwards
  3. Love this. Lupo GTIs are great drivers cars and need to be driven, not just shown. Looks great so far. Cant wait to see what its like in June!
  4. You weren't interested in my excellent condition 330 as a PX as you said you don't like BMWs?! Bizarre...
  5. Im on the look out at the moment too. Sold my GTI 2 years ago as I had owned it for 2 years and fancied a change. Looking at selling my current car and buying another as it would be cheaper to run. I also called this guy and he said it was great condition. Was going to view at the weekend but didn't have the time. Im glad I didn't bother! I owned a silver GTI before which put me off that one a little bit, think I may have to wait out and get one which isn't silver this time!
  6. Hi. I Used these as my summer wheels. Lack of space to store them means they have to go! As title says they are 15x7 and et28 all straight and true. Two have minor curbing (one worse than other) and pics are attached of this. They where used for about 6 months with stretched tyres so obviously not out the box new as there are some very small chips to outer lips from stones and some small marks from cleaning. Overall very good condition and perfect for winter or summer! 1st wheel 2nd wheel 3rd wheel 4th wheel Don't know what they are worth so lets say £350 or sensible offers. Collection from Swindon just off M4 J16. Could post if buyer arranges courier but would prefer pick up. No p/x's as have nowhere to store them! Thanks
  7. The handbrake warning light and beep means the system is completely inactive doesn't it? I had an intermittent fault with an abs sensor so pulled the abs fuse till it was sorted which resulted in the handbrake light flashing and 3 beeps. Would say it is a power issue of a kind. Has the original poster solved their problem or have any updates??
  8. Anyone? Also forgot to say that when you use the key in the drivers door it will lock both doors, but when opening it will only open the drivers door. Unlocking and locking in the passenger door will lock/unlock both doors. Could the problem be within the drivers door itself?
  9. Well here is the story so far. My mate had a spare remote (new with the code attached) which i tried to get VW to code. They where unable to code as they could not connect to the control unit. They still charged me about £70 despite not being able to code the key. After a brief chat with the service manager we agreed that they would have the car for a day to try and further diagnose it for free, as so far I had been charged for nothing! Whether they did actually look at the car is anyones guess, but the result was that they couldn't work out why, and wanted several more hours to check the wiring loom to the instrument cluster - they also said that they still may not know what was wrong with the car and may again require more diagnosis time plus potential parts. I obviously didn't bother with that due to cost and the fact it sounded like pure guess work by them. I had previously been able to connect to the alarm control unit using vagcom, but admittedly I haven't tried since taking the car to VW as I no longer have the software. Is the alarm module separate to the comfort module and does anyone know the locations of them? I have tried to re sync the key in the door etc but had no luck. A guy at work then mentioned an auto locksmith he knew. He had a look and repaired the key for me. The remote central locking then worked fine again for a few months but the key has given up again! I don't want to start guessing and buying comfort and alarm modules to have VW unable to connect again wasting more time and money! As when the key was repaired it was all working fine, I was thinking the cheapest and easiest way would be to install a different remote locking kit, and wire it in so that the signal from the aftermarket remote then acts like the signal from the original VW key remote. If anyone has wiring diagrams for me to look at, that would be amazing
  10. Sorry my first post is a bit vague! Its the remote central locking which is the problem. I want to know if I buy and fit an aftermarkert system, would this eliminate the need to use the vw key remote? My thinking was that say a clifford unit (which is cheaper than 2 vw key remotes alone) could be wired into the standard alarm loom.
  11. If there is other possible problems regarding a specific cylinder (as mentioned in your first post) would it no be more cost effective to find everything that needs to be done first? Why would they need to put a new cylinder head on first? If the bottom end is knackered you have then wasted the labour costs in fitting the new cylinder head, and if you end up getting a used engine, odds are it will have the cylinder head on it, leaving you with a spare?
  12. Hi. Ive done a quick search but couldn't find anything relating just for the GTI. Is it possible to fit an aftermarket alarm, say ebay jobby or toad system to a GTI as it already has the standard alarm fitted? Basically both remotes for my car are not working (cannot sync them and have tried batteries etc). At the moment i have to get into the car using the key, which actuates the alarm in till the ignition has been on for 2 or 3 seconds. Two new key remotes and coding will easily be more than an alarm kit that I could fit myself. Has anyone fitted an aftermarket alarm to a GTI? Will it not work due to the manufactures alarm, or is it a case of unplugging it and connecting the new one up to the relevant wires? Would total closure also be possible if wired correctly? Any info would be appreciated! Thanks
  13. I can't see them gaining money over time. Low mileage versions obviously won't depreciate as quickly as high mileage modified examples. Keep a standard mint condition one in the garage for say another 20 years and how much will it be worth? Prob about the same amount that you could sell it for today, minus your loss due to inflation.
  14. Was just about to post a similar post to the above about issues with syncing the keyhead. I only had 1 key which gradually started to stop working over time. Got another key blade cut and keyhead but cant program it. Is it only possible if the vehicle is unlocked using the remote? As at the min i have to use the key in the door (which sets the alarm off)
  15. Have you got the results of the compression test? Also was a cylinder leakage test carried out?
  16. I run 32psi all round with no problems. 40psi is pretty high! With almost 2 degree camber and tyres at 32 I obviously get camber wear issues on the inner edge. 40psi would make it even worse!
  17. Looking at selling mine at end of year to get something like this. Bad timing for me! Lovely car. GLWS
  18. As above. After the lower section of the front bumper with grille. Am in swindon so can collect if local or don't mind paying postage. Thanks
  19. The bottom arms are the same (99% sure), but as above the ball joints are wider. If you fitted the gti ball joints it will cause more problems than good as you are bringing the mounting of the hub outwards. This will alter the camber but the toe will be dramatically changed and both front wheels will be aiming outwards as the length of the track rods has not changed. Keep the original s ball joints on and get the wheels correctly aligned by a garage. Remember that the wheel alignment will require doing again if you remove the hubs or fit coilovers etc.
  20. As I said above, they're not. But anyway what is the issue as you still haven't said?? If you changed just the hubs i would assume it was camber. This is adjustable on the hub by the two bolts which connect the strut to the hub. The holes on the hub are elongated, allowing you to move the hub in and out, this is what adjusts the camber.
