  1. Could be a clogged up injector - try swapping cylinder 4 injector with another and see if the misfire moves to that cylinder Take care re-inserting injector into fuel rail - they don't go all the way in - the clip limits its height Edit : those injector seals look really crusty, probably could do with a clean and lube with thin smear of vaseline
  2. ECP have been quietly dropping Lemforder & TRW from their product listings - they will both be gone by the end of this year Moog seem to be their replacement. I ended up with moog inner tie rods for my Mk5 - they work, but definitely not as good as their dropped brands, even simple things like thread quality differed from side to side - a real step down in quality.
  3. No - it was definitely cable ties I can recall one of the replies saying it was clever use of them... all I could think was they may have drilled through the molded hole and put a tie through there, but that would have really weakened the plastic - I sometimes find the random stuff I keep stored is disturbing! Love to see your fix too Mk2
  4. Those clips like to snap and shear off, plus once they fall out once they will just keep doing that. The ones on ebay are rubbish - only use them if you are really desperate - OEM are best - Rich passed on advice that manual windows have the same plastic fitting, Polo's of similar age and slightly newer share the same part, source replacements from scrap yard - target passenger side as it's more likely to have had the least abuse. Buried on the forum someone had listed a trick with cable ties to keep the clips in place, all they said in the post was they had fixed their problem, no description, just posted a picture of the fix, this was followed by multiple posts saying how clever the fix was... the picture link was dead.
  5. I got some lemforder one that I gutted out the bush and you can then install 22mm bushes - I believe superpro and powerflex have them
  6. Not a full recommendation - I use https://vgy.me/ When their site is running its a great free service, however sometimes their site is down and recently due to misuse by non registered users they have limited number of photo's uploaded down to 2! - Hope that's a temporary measure as I do like my photo montages!
  7. Try searching "6X0411313 22mm" suggested here: https://7zap.com/en/catalog/cars/Volkswagen/brand/20/0/Lupo/Lupo (1999 - 2006)/Volkswagen/N205RmFYdVoyZWFTVHNkMEI0SkhHQT09--/6bbffde8b5b8077d2d0a5796da6eea3c:3557b31ec6dd3dd814dac105f97e4fe3/manufacturer/4/158407100::407010 BTW, even with the subframe off the Lupo I found changing mine to be a complete PITA - When you first offer up the bush it looks way too big for the clamp. But surprisingly it does fit, the best tip I can pass on is get slightly longer bolts to help initially pull the clamp down/squish the bush, clamp down the clip with grips before swapping out for the correct sized bolt. To be 100% sure of finding one in the correct size get Superpro ones - it is a standard type of VAG bush and they make them in 1mm increments
  8. I came across an injector cleaning by post service that I thought I would share: http://www.injectortune.co.uk/Injector_Cleaning.html I sent off my spare set of Gti injectors on Saturday and got them back special delivery Tuesday. They provide pre and post cleaning review of resistance, leak test, static and dynamic spray patterns and lastly flow: These were down on flow between 60 and 62cc after cleaning its bounced back to 66 to 67cc's - they are meant to flow 66 Also part of the service is new filters and seals - if in stock - and they return your old ones too Really pleased with the services - it seems this is a one man operation, the cost for 4 injectors and return special delivery was just short of £60
  9. Wow! Looked into cooling vents? seem to recall Mk3 Golf OEM ears that mount on the inside of the caliper: https://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?5734441-Late-239mm-brake-cooling-air-scoops-onto-Mk1-GTI Where did you find out about the cup car triangulation?
  10. Great results! Boiling brake fluid... what fluid were you running? Triangulation of beam - is that from middle of beam out to bottom shock mounts?
  11. That butile stuff looks good - a great planned fix My Duct tape suggestion is a more a "easy to get your hands on the materials" fix that I have used on Mk3 Golfs - Secret is to reduce the number of locations any water can collect in. at the top of the opening have the sheeting on door card side, at bottom tuck the plastic inside the door...just the sides to worry about, roll them in to channel water into the door - but this could be tricky with our curvey door cards I am really starting to think the cheaper the duct tape the better, I have shelled out for branded stuff to find the stick isn't that sticky and fails after a while, currently using some brandless stuff from screwfix and its
  12. Heavy duty plastic sheet and gaffer tape for sealing up the openings Anniversary Mk4 interior clips are generic Mk4 In my neck of the woods Mk4's in breakers are not as common as a few years ago, seems Mk5 is the new binnable VW
  13. Hope you get this sorted - just out of interest, I think we are all aware VW has a funny way of doing things, was there much of price difference between Value and non-Value?
  14. I found the best way to get the glass sitting correctly in the holders, tighten the holders to just grip but allow some movement of the glass, run the window up to align, then tighten the bolts, if you can't reach the bolts grip the glass with your hands on both sides and push down as a helper lowers the window - 60% of the time it works every time! ^ that's a halfway house between sliders and lecky windows - with weight saving too
  15. it's a sickening moment when bleeders let go - well done getting it sorted
  16. That's the naughties trying to be the nineties - did this not appear on Barryboys as a SOTW?
  17. Lowered springs often don't need compressors, I can just about hold down the top cap and put the nut on by myself. Not sure about the those shocks fitting Gti, these links do not list AVY engine working with that PN- https://www.oemvwshop.com/jzw413031d-shock-abs-eco-p451672/ https://vwsonline.co.uk/products/108364-trw-front-shockabsorbers-pair-jzw-413-031d?variant=12694461153382
  18. That's a great resource, but only problem is when you get to VW stretch bolts are slightly different with a set torque +90 turn Polo's share a lot of stuff with the Lupo - I found the Polo 00 to 02 Haynes manual is a good source for torque values and the stretch bolt anomalies
  19. The ones at the beam are the worst as you don't have much space to play with - start with these then move onto the fronts. Make sure your bleeders are free - carefully soak these too - having a blow torch on standby is a comfort for sticking bleeders. It looks crap fitting old clips onto nice new hoses - Febi clips - suspect you need 6 (2 for the front, 4 at the beam) If you havent got them - Invest in proper brake spanners and vice grips Quite often the nut on the hard pipes will be stuck in place - important to support these as you undo the flexi - so you don't break the hard pipe. You mentioned the original ones were perished, there are also flexi/hardline pipes on each side of the beam going to the calipers, are they Ok?
  20. Both at the same time - you will have all the tools out and the second side will be a lot quicker. If you get the removal tool you could possibly do it on the car and reduce disturbance of alignment - but I would still get i checked, but this could be done at a convenient time
  21. as said - i sent it out to be rebuilt - yes the seal is pretty common, lots of boxes with 5th gear housing requiring this
