  1. Any other takers at 400 quid before I put this on eBay at the weekend? MK2 is unable to collect.
  2. Yeah I drove it there, just needs filling up with fuel as it's not got much in. I can stick some in to get you to the petrol station. Won't be heading down south unfortunately but if you need to get a train up I can pick you up etc. Can usually get a ticket between London and Mirfield for about 20 quid. If you need any more pictures of anything specific just let me know.
  3. PM me if you can come up with a plan and I'm sure we'll agree something. It's not stored at my house but I can easily get there if you need to have it picked up on a recovery truck etc. More info for anyone interested - I think the clutch cable fault is either due to it not having been lubricated when fitting, or a difference in cable. The OEM one that snapped originally had a spring system at the gearbox end, the new one from Euros didn't.
  4. Pedal box is fine, I've had a good look at it when I've been in the footwell hooking the cable up. I believe the previous owner had it replaced but wouldn't like to say for definite. Yes, it's an SE model.
  5. SOLD SOLD SOLD Bought a new car so this one's up for sale. It's mucky and the arches are bubbling but it will get you from A-B and return 50mpg no matter what you do - a good earner. In my ownership it's had a new battery, clutch cable, 2 tyres and a couple of other bits that slip my mind. My only gripe is the recently fitted clutch cable seems to be fiddly to tension. The clutch itself should be fine - it was replaced just before I bought it in 2017 (I believe there's a receipt for this in the documents folder). 140k miles, currently SORN, MOT due 19/3/18, I have no doubt that it will pass many more. Currently parked on family's driveway in Dewsbury (WF17) - good access to m62 and m1. I'll take £500 for it. Could also be open to swapping for a known good PD130 engine (AWX) and some cash my way.
  6. Think I've got to the bottom of this, the vacuum hose between the egr and bulkhead valve had come apart. Must have come loose when the clutch cable pinged off. All works now.
  7. I've had difficulty starting the car some mornings and had to press the accelerator to get the engine to fire up. Felt similar to when the intake manifold gasket perished on my MK2 polo causing a vacuum leak. Any quick tests to check the vacuum pump? I've read test procedures for servo and hoses, I'll do that tonight.
  8. But is there any connection that could relate it to being in neutral rather than in gear?
  9. Yes. Like I say, it could well be a coincidence. The old cable snapped where it connects into the pedal and appeared to be the original.
  10. Clutch cable snapped yesterday and has been replaced (fun job, right?). Could be irrelevant however I'm now noticing a hard brake pedal when coasting in neutral. Absolutely fine when in gear. Brake fluid is fine suggesting a vacuum issue but why only when in neutral? I've had a very quick look over the vacuum line and there doesn't appear to be any damage.
  11. What happens if you start the car with in unplugged and then plug it in?
  12. I think that's where my issue lies then. Is it just a case of getting them out, cleaning them up and refitting with some copper grease?
  13. Yep, wound in fully and still not enough space. Left me thinking either wrong size pads or that those inserts we're sticking out too far. Mine weren't seized to the bolts but seemed to stick out about the same distance that would mean they pads would fit otherwise
  14. Went to swap the pads and discs over yesterday whilst we had a break from the weather. Couldn't fit the new ones in as there didn't seem to be enough space Think I've narrowed it down to seized slider pins - can someone confirm that the tubes surrounding the caliper bolts should move freely? Pic to explain the part I mean.
  15. I might not have used the gauge correctly, I will have a watch on youtube to make sure I haven't made an obvious mistake.
  16. DTI gauge arrived yesterday so I had a quick check today. Found it quite difficult to get reliable readings from it but seem to have pinpointed it to the passenger side. Driver side: 12 o'clock -0.34 3 o'clock -0.37 6 o'clock -0.40 9 o'clock -0.35 Range: 0.06mm Passenger side: 12 o'clock +0.04 3 o'clock -0.06 6 o'clock -0.03 9 o'clock 0.00 Range: 0.10mm Any glaring mistakes with that?
  17. Could you get one from a bearing supplier? I imagine they will stock retaining clips.
  18. Three options then - new used caliper, new caliper from suppliers, or refurb the existing. Which takes me back to my original post - is there anywhere to get a decent kit to do a full caliper refurb? I've heard good things about Bigg Red before? @Sausage @Pete?
  19. There's no logic to me suggesting this but what I've read online says that excessive runout in the hub face can cause similar issues. I have ordered a gauge, I'll check the brake disc and hub run-out before chucking parts at it. Once I strip it down I'll get some pictures in case you guys can see something obvious that I'm missing.
  20. I had a quick look at runout gauges on eBay and they were coming back about £60, just searched DTI and they're £20 including a base. I've managed to tap retaining screws out with a small screwdriver and hammer before now, I'll give that a go and resort to the wheel bolts if I can't do it. Won't lie I didn't use any brake cleaner or pay attention to the bedding in procedure, I'll do that this time. Could my rear drum brakes be having an effect? I've never opened them up and have no idea what condition they're in.
  21. No ABS as far as I'm aware, there's no ring or sensor on my hub anyway. Someone has snapped the retaining screws before I bought the car, looks like I'll be getting the drill out. I had considered a runout gauge but they seem to be a bit more expensive than I had expected for a one off job. Yeah I've no issue with replacing the parts, just didn't want there to be an inherent issue that's going to mean I'm doing it again in a month or two.
  22. No, present before and after the ball joints. Everything's tightened up just fine and I'm all balanced and tracked up with two new tyres on the front. Not obviously coming from one side of the car either, just pulses through the brake pedal and wobbles the wheel. Discs and pads are both Pagid, not cheap but not genuine, probably less than a year old. Happens at all speeds I suppose but more evident at 40mph and up. All I can think is that its from me holding on the brake at traffic lights (I've almost kicked that habit). Just don't want to stick a new set on for them to go the same way in a couple of months time.
  23. As above really - I have brake judder and steering wobble at 40mph+, as well as the brakes biting when coming to a halt at low speeds. This points me to warped discs, but why? Are there any common faults with the Lupo that cause discs to warp? Is there anywhere I can buy a decent caliper refurb kit which includes a piston if it's the pistons that are sticking? I've checked over the pads and there doesn't seem to be any excessive wear from side to side or pad to pad.
