  1. I am looking to sell my GTi, and am wondering what I am likely to get for it/ what I should ask. Its a 5 Speed with 21000 miles. 6 months warranty CD player and `AIR-CON` Y reg. New front tyres and brake pads. Thanks for your help Alex
  2. Is there anyway to have the clutch set further back, so it doesn't protrude so much?
  3. Started driving my gti after a few weeks at Uni. Every time I put it into second the gears crunch. Anyway, took it to Whites VW in Camberley, they looked at it and said they are going to simply shove a new gearbox in the car! But the part will take a month to order, so I am going to have it back and just avoid second gear fot the moment. Question: Why are VW so useless at having parts in stock?
  4. Finally got car back from VW garage last week. Problem was a fault with the clutch pressure plate, and that then damaged other parts of the gearbox when it went. Anyway, it was under warranty. I couldn't get a courtesy car as I am under 23! What other problems have people had with their clutch
  5. VW are waiting on parts for the fly wheel. They said it was probably something to do with the balancing of the gearbox ( I don't know what the name for the main shaft through the gearbox is)
  6. VW are due to finish fixing the car today. They said is was not the hydraulics. The clutch was completely burned out, but I think that was the cause of a problem in the gearbox, which caused it no to engage properly and smoke the clutch majorly. It stank. Anyway, they had to take the whole gearbox out, and have had to replace the flywheel as well, as it was in a bit of a mess?, which seems as thought the gearbox did has something majorly wrong with it. As it has been through normal driving the guy said it should be on the warranty.
  7. Drove up to harrogate at the weekend for a 21st party Drove five minutes on the way back before car would just not go into gear. Pulled over and got RAC out. They thought it was a leak in the hydraulics for the clutch, tried to fix it ( blead air out and top up) , but no luck. So its currently sitting in Harrogate VW waiting to be fixed. And I'm 250 miles away! No wonder we all drive cars - York to london single rail fare - 71.50! unbelievable. Did remember slight provblems with gears the previous night, but thought nothing of it. RAC man said this problem only usually occurs in cars in cars that have done at least 90,000?
  8. Had the same problem on my old golf Mk2 . Car would simply stall at beginning unless I reved it, then it came to moving the thing. Auto choke is the problem. Its a type of wax/ plastic that expands as the engoine heats up, changing the amount of fuel put in. I think. VW dealers were useless in sorting it out.
  9. Hi Just bought a Lupo GTi, 2001 Y reg. Going to pick it up on Saturday. I was wondering why some of the stereos have the cd slot at the top, and others at the bottom. ???
