  1. Are you buying her a present?
  2. Yeah, where's the strange spec thread. I want that.
  3. Terminals wrong way on a jump and blown the clocks?
  4. I'd like to state that I already said that. Happy it is fixed.
  5. Those codes look like a circuit is down which will be like a failing unit. My mate is having this problem with a GTi, he actually won't let me look at it.
  6. Frank is right. I'm just validating your Surrey pot hole theory by remembering my exploits in cheam.
  7. Two punctures, one pothole, cheam. I shall not argue
  8. If anyone fancies a run into central London I have some premium GTi import suspension I need collecting.
  9. No and no. There aren't any buses till after Christmas.
  10. I haven't struggled to find cheap amf when needed. There's a £50 one nearby. That's 200 of lupo absolute tops.
  11. I have a DK plate lupo. That's mental money for what it is
  12. Don't need a tyre that badly then.
  13. The mk2 golf is sacred and they have all gone now.
  14. I actually have a set of drums I acquired from the desguaces but it's debatable whether or not project budget allows them to be fitted. I should have gotten a subframe instead but I was mostly looking for TT parts. All fitted up and exhaust going on very soon and then it can be kicked out for MOT.
  15. Subframe delivered, fitted, all good to go and hopefully mot tomorrow or Wednesday. Did the wishbone bushes as they were off, easy and cheap. Arb bushes and drop links too. For some reason it won't let me upload photos.
  16. I haven't even looked at the rear yet. The whole car is great for rust, scabby panels but sills are straight and the shell is fantastic. I was theorising that the coolant leak and the undertray were the culprit but then it's gone on the other side too. The rear jack up can be later in life, I don't wanna know.
  17. Also, to note for removal, I was nice with all captive nuts, I've been here many times but the rusty passenger mount (theme on that side) decided to fight and fortunately made an access hole. I'm going to fit the frame and weld the captive and plate it.
  18. Definitely a good idea to buy a cheap lupo. The parts have now actually surpassed the purchase price. Subframe removal necessitated downpipe removal, painless but annoying as that meant trumpets and oily box off. Needed to come off as the seal was twisted and needs cleaning. Egr removed, blanking plates to fit. Downpipe needs welding around the cat, easy enough, rest is all new, should be sweet. No idea why an advisory on the wishbone bushes, they are fine. Gearbox selector seal needs doing. Subframe, beyond efforts for cost/time.
  19. Filter bypass for a night. Will be reet.
  20. Buy a cheap lupo they said, it will be good they said.... So I bought a cheap lupo and if has sat waiting it's time. It's time is now, it gets a thread, revival to removal. So far it has now moved inside. And it is up in the air getting all the subframe and exhaust bolts loosened off and bathed ready for removal. two tyres (£100!) Getting fitted as we speak. bushes, mounts, full arb, filters, fluids, brakes, timing belt are all on their way tomorrow. one wing acquired, two doors and one more wing to go.....
