  1. I was on the phone for an hour with 3rd party insurance, went through the whole picking 3 cars at which point they could not understand why a TDI 1.4 may be more expensive than a 1 litre arosa?? They literally did not understand ? They then suggested I talk to my solicitor as they could not offer any more than £1025.... Same has been suggested by my insurance as well... Cheers Brewride, im down in devon so a bit far but the way this is going I won't rule it out Oh no the car was not a previous write off, it has done 150000 but is immaculate and meticulously kept body and mechanically, oh and totally stock as it left the factory. The wrost insult was when the 3rd party said it was not in good condition from the photos as "It had flaking paint on the rear and a dent in the bumper/boot" "YES THAT IS THE DAMAGE YOUR CLIENT DID TO MY CAR......" here she is and accident
  2. This is glasses get out, can anyone make sense why from this statement the two franchise prices (price I would need to buy a car from a franchise outright) would be different?? My Insurer Has Given Me Different Values To Your Valuation The values we make available on Glass.co.uk are for private individuals to understand how much they might expect to pay for a particular vehicle if they were purchasing it at a Dealership, or how much they might expect to get in part exchange for that vehicle. The values are adjusted for Age, Mileage, Options, and Condition; however, they are also adjusted to take account of a Trade In scenario, so factoring in some of the typical Dealer allowances in a Retail situation. Therefore, our Glass.co.uk valuations are not suitable for comparative purposes versus Insurance Valuations. Please remember that a Glass’s Valuation is a guide only. Valuations obtained from Glass.co.uk are for use in buying and selling situations and are not INSURANCE settlement values, CASH values, or REPLACEMENT prices and should not be presented as such. This is clearly stated in various prominent places on the website. If you have an issue with the settlement figure provided by your insurer, unfortunately Glass’s cannot provide you with advice regarding this. Your insurer will have a sophisticated and well-documented process for handling these issues (usually found on their website), and that process is your recourse if you wish to take the matter further.
  3. No they are putting the car on a jig, pulling the boot surround back into spec then spraying the boot area and then the bumper and rear bootlid little update So in my current dispute with 3rd party insurance on the value of my seat arosa. 3rd party said they always use glasses guide for the value they will give me for the car. Not parkers Not ebay sold prices Not CAPS the value they gave me was £1025 maximum as glasses have it. SO today I looked on glasses, I paid glasses my £3.75 to adjust the Mileage to exactly what my car is at. This then gives me a value of £1160. I then check with my insurance this discrepancy as I feel I have a case to argue against the 3rd party insurance. APPARENTLY NOT SO I was informed by my insurance that the value the 3rd party is using of £1025 is correct. When I questioned the insurance stating I had used glasses to provide an accurate price for my car if I had to buy it from franchised dealer in excellent condition i.e top value. I was informed. "Us insurance companies pay Glasses a "HIGHER PREMIUM" to attain a different "MORE ACCURATE" price. I may be nieve but it would seem that they pay the independant valuers more money than my £3.75 and get a lower price to devalue my car? This is shameful, surely a value is a value to me the insurer or the franchise dealer selling price. This stinks. Any advice?
  4. Ok so now I find that the 3rd party insurance company is lying........they stated to me that the ONLY valuer they use is Glasses Guide and the maximum they are paying out is £1025 which they say is the maximum ammount for a car with my mileage and age, well I paid the £4 to glasses to find out their value retailer price, surprise surprise it is £1180. So the sly buggers have hedged their bets that I would not pay to see the actual figures they are using.....game is up boys. I am going to pass all this over to my insurance company and the legal team which I paid for, even if its to get my £4 back for wasting my time.
  5. I know its a different box but in our TDI the syncro went on 2nd to 3rd, I got a 2nd hand box EXB code for £180 new clutch and release bearing, its tight but I fitted it all myself
  6. Thanks Low n Slow, i'm looking for £1200 write off value then I will buy back and fix. The first offer of £800 was upsetting, I have decided to get my insurance company to claim against them as they would not budge over £1025 even though Parkers guide put the age and mileage value at £1195
  7. Here you go, before photos are autumn this year All changed on Tuesday
  8. It is totally repairable. Parts needed Rear bumper £95.00 Rear boot lid 54.99 bumper hanger 17.50 bumper central hanger 17.95 rear light 25.00 number plate light 12 boot airvent 12.95 This means I have to fit rear boot lid, rear bumper and parts while the bodyshop concentrate on the 10mm "cosmetic" not structural pull of the boot surround, wheel well is fine. They will then respray the boot area and blow over the boot id and bumper for around £600 so the cost is £835.95 plus all my uncharged work. If the insurance were half decent they would pay up. The Joke is HALF of the energy (pollution) created in 1 cars life is in manufacture, all they want is to crush it into a ball for a bumper area dent. When you next see a breakers yard delivery look at all the cars that are perfectly useable, this is all the fault of the insurance companies and governments turning a blind eye to it as the countries profits are based on car sales and the building of new homes. Shame on them
  9. Sooooo. Phoned their insurance to find how much I will get..... £800.... I suggested they go away and have a think.... £1025 Hmmmmm to buy a good one like we had is north of £1500 At this point the rep said "well its not in the best of conditions from the photos shown, seems to have flaking paint and a dent in the back" errrrrrm that is the rear end damage your client did to my car? thats why I'm claiming? you can't say its in bad condition DUE to the damage inflicted At this point I asked for a manager as I had lost confidence in their customer service, all the managers we busy or "Busy as they are very important" They asked me for examples of vehicles with same mileage year model. I presented them with Parkers Guide price of £1195 which they threw out as they "only recognise Glasses Guide" I am now giving up with them and using our insurance to claim against them, their client has admitted liability so the excess will be returned to us. Our insurance listened (always a good thing) then stated that to keep our custom they will try to get price expectation to £1200 I have also used their legal team to recover damage costs "Rear Triangle bent like banana" plus put on record I injured both wrists and right arm in the crash. When all is said and done we will be out of pocket for a crash that was not mu fault. I contacted the other driver to let them know I'm not a whiplash claimant and if they get any letters that concern them (insurance running away with themselves) to let me know.
  10. So today I went out to get the parts needed to put a towbar on our beloved Seat arosa TDI Slowing down on a country road to standstill to warn the oncoming postman that the road is slippery when a people carrier sized car hits me in the back at around 20mph. Our arosa is immaculate, regularly serviced, replacement gearbox but 150000 miles. Looks like I am not going to come out of this deal fairly. My wrists are slightly ****ed as I was gripping the steering wheel but am not happy with the whole whiplash culture. Looking at the damage, its Rear bumper rear boot door rear lights inner light metal it has deformed the inner panels as my hazard triangle is now bent like a banana. I love arosas, I have the specific roof bars and now a towbar on order....... Their insurance has contacted me for photos which I have provided once I gave the car a good clean. The TDI is such a rare car to get a good unmolested one. Anyone any advice, im slim on options an a little in shock at the moment
