  1. Correct, try You Tube, but more practically its fiddly rather than difficult, just be systematic and patient
  2. Wrong place to start, you should start with a GTI if you want that much extra power, you need the brakes, suspension & lightness the GTI brings
  3. Cheap enough to replace on the front but not so clever if its the rear
  4. Cornwall is close to the sea at all times so salt in the air can be an issue, you are right about road salt though, mild winters
  5. No its a 3 cylinder diesel
  6. The 1.4 diesel is a turbo, its arguably the best all round model to buy too
  7. Very nice, are the subframes as immaculate as the exterior?
  8. 5 speed gearbox, bought 2nd hand never used, free to anyone who wants it, Swansea, can't collect until lockdown is over, another 15 days. I think its for a 75bhp engine but wouldn't put money on it.
  9. I have gearbox for a 1.4 petrol, think for the 75bhp car, free to a good home, if anyone wants it.
  10. This needed to be offered with top spec models, not in a base level 1 litre car
  11. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Lupo-GTI-2005-Heated-Leather-Huge-History-Original/154139905724?hash=item23e3744ebc:g:NR0AAOSw8vpfhYb1 one of the last but big miles and a work in progress but one of the earliest still around https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/vw-lupo-1-8-20v-turbo/324335543505?hash=item4b83e7a4d1:g:uEIAAOSwUIRfiKS1
  12. Door cards and roof lining are easy when it comes to colour change, door handles and hand brake more difficult
  13. Can't say I noticed the roll much tbh, I did have an automatic Lupo for a while that was lowered, great on corners but a rock hard ride and hard on tyres too. The seats that I think are best are in the photo
  14. In Llanelli by James Hawkins, he was recommended to me by another tdi enthusiast. A bit too far for you in the current circumstances. There should be a few in the central belt, I'd have thought. Yes the Sport has 100 bhp and discs all round, but a tdi with a 100bhp plus is a much better car to drive. The seats on the Sport have side airbags which need to be disconnected before you remove them because they might go off, mine are blue and go well with a silver car. Other mods are a black roof, you could have it wrapped but I chose paint, if you can get cheap 15 alloys why not, but I'm ok with standard. I've also turned the roof lining black and fitted or adapted the door cards using matt black spray paint in a well ventilated space, acquired a black bonnet as well but yet to fit it. These were the springs I fitted, work well with standard shocks, lower but not a hard ride https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volkswagen-Lupo-1-4TDi-LOWERING-SPRINGS-40mm/200592416770?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l46252
  15. If it was as good as you think it is/was, why didnt it catch on?
  16. I accept the novel features but they are there to save fuel not make a diesel gti. If you want a diesel gti remap a tdi.
  17. Quite so , crappy auto, torque sapped by the slush box I'd pick a TDI every time and an SDI most of the time. A gimmick for posuers
  18. I don't understand the premium on these cars, ok they are very fuel efficient, but so is the SDI or TDI.
  19. WD40 on the boot lock does work if you can get it open, introduce some into the lock too by spaying the key, I'm fitting a black bonnet to mine so will have a silver/grey bonnet if that helps. Fit wind up windows, get seats from an Arosa Sport, fit lowering springs, get the car re-mapped but get advice locally on who does it well as not all know what they are doing. Surprised at the rust though as mines the same age as yours and has none.
  20. The syncro system never worked well on the Golf Rallye either golf Rallye.html
