  1. Again gearbox synchros can fail especially around 3rd gear in both directions, manageable indefinitely, but not as nice as a properly functioning box, more likely to happen if the engine has been tweaked as 3rd gear is the cars overtaking gear. Arosa TDI interiors can be crap so look for one from a Sport model
  2. are the pumps the same for every Lupo model
  3. I'll try and spray some white grease in there but its tight and I don't want it on the belt
  4. All I've done is check the fluid level, fine, spayed a lot of wd40 onto the wheel and it has quietened down somewhat but at 167k on the clock I don't expect it to last much longer so I'll seek out a replacement, thanks everyone
  5. Noisy power steering, fluid level fine, no leaks and I can't see any old threads on these failing, some WD40 to sort it?
  6. they wear out and the plastic becomes too worn to remain on the stub, best change the link, they are often for sale on ebay

    Y356GHU

if they're the same age just swap the number plates over, £80 or so to the DVLA
  8. Having air con makes it rare but the folding roof exceptional, I think myself lucky in having a Lupo sport tdi with a factory sunroof but that one seems almost too good to be true; only downer will be if it's cat sick yellow
  9. I've emailed VW with is query so perhaps something will come from them
  10. I'm surprised about the bolts, I also bought a spoiler for a Lupo which I'm certain was a factory item and it was glue only unfortunately I sold it on so I can't confirm that
  11. a couple of picks of the boot spoiler on one our Arosa TDi's, these are very rare and quite different to the ones for the Lupo so worth a look
  12. completely agree about London; but the curious thing is that VW were still selling Polo 1.4 and 1.9 PD TDI's in 2007 ostensibly the same motors used to pass the Euro 3 in 2001 so presumably it's an easy fix
  13. looking at what I wrote "there's posh" is a very Welsh expression in itself, when I visit family they tell me I sound Welsh but when I return to South Wales after being in N/cle I get told I sound like a Geordie again, my only excuse is they are similar sing song accents with shared vowel sound
  14. "Going" canny, there's posh when I lived in N/cle it was alwuz gannin canny, alreet
  15. As far as I can gather all Lupo's and Arosa's fail this test as they are Euro 3 compliant and this standard is short of the Euro 4 that is required to be exempt [though not from the existing congestion charge]. The difference twixt the two tests does not seem enormous compared to the huge leap to be Euro 5 compliant, would it be possible to tweak these figures for Euro 4 compliance with a remap? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_emission_standards
  16. close enough for one of the Geordies, Mackems and Smoggies to save http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Lupo-1-4-TDI-Sport-75HP-Spares-or-Repair-/322840742483?hash=item4b2aceca53:g:DOMAAOSwdW1Z63gh
  17. sell the 1 litre and buy a Sport model, its a much better place to start modifying from
  18. I don't like the wheels everything else seems good
  19. on ebay, a conversion but nicely done http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volkswagen-Lupo-Tdi-Sport/272869671897?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

    Arosa Mk 2

lower front grill required for a mark 2 Arosa, happy to collect within 100 miles or so
  21. I've given the car an Italian tune up this morning and the judder is less pronounced which does suggest a sticky caliper
  22. I have a similar issue with one of our TDi's in the 2 and a half years I've owned it I've changed the discs 3 times and need to again. Last time I fitted Brembo discs and changed the front nearside caliper. I have also put replacement front alloys with new tyres on the front. The car does not have abs. I'm at a loss to explain this, the car tracks straight, brakes straight and does not pull to one side under acceleration, each time I've changed discs I've bought progressively more expensive items. Once replaced the new discs work fine for 3 months or so and then a judder starts. Any ideas perhaps changing the offside caliper?
  23. you haven't missed much, the article on the Nissan Skyline variants was interesting though
