  1. Surely someone must have some tips about re-fitting a box... correct angles to clear the subframe etc.? So far it just seems to be a huge amount of trial and error.
  2. Evening All. Just been searching and found this thread. Attempted to change the clutch in the lupo this weekend. Got it all stripped back ok, fitting the new clutch and aligned it, but I'm struggling to get the box back on. It's a real effort to get the back of the box to clear the subframe, and when it does, it doesn't seem to pull up straight in to the bay. Does anyone have any tips? It's driving me mad! I've left the front end on as it's a lot of effort to strip it all back, but I'm starting to wonder if that's the best way.
  3. Good thinking, but it goes in and out of gears fine with no grind. The noise comes from engaging and disengaging the clutch, not changing gear.
  4. Sorry for the bump, but any help/advice you can provide would be greatly appriciated.
  5. Hi All, having issues with the girlfriends car. It's making an odd buzz/grind noise as it goes in to gear. It goes in to gear fine, and the clutch bite point feels normal. I'd guessed at it being a release bearing issue. Taken it to VW today, who have said it a problem with the 'clutch mechanism' and will be over £400 to repair! Has anyone else had this and what was needed to fix it. If it's going to be £400, i'll get the bits and sort it myself.
  6. Very nice looking mini, love the arches on it!! Was it avon 2006 you went to petrified? I think i saw your car there. My mini turbo wasn't finished so i went in a blue golf, got royally spanked by stewart meads green mini when it did a 10.5sec 1/4. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" />
  7. Started having issues with the central locking on my girlfriends lupo. It's got a toad alarm, although i don't actually think this is causing the problem. When you go to lock it using the alarm remote, it just beeps three times and doesn't fire the locking solonoid to lock. However, when you press it again, it fires them to open. So i thought, 'sod this, i'll use the key'. Same story, if you turn it to lock, the central locking doesn't work, but if you turn it to open all solonoids fire. Odd. So then i thought i'd test them by starting the car and pressing the central locking control on the drivers door, locks and unlocks without an issue. So that's the solonoids ruled out then. The only thing that i could think it would be that would affect both the car's C/L control and the Alarms is a fault switch. However, all the door switches work, i checked them. The only thing i can think it would be now is a dodgy bonnet switch. So, 2 questions: Does anyone know if the lupo sports came with bonnet switches as standard? (i think they had a basic alarm, so i'd assume so) And - has anyone else experienced anything like this? It's driving me mad!!!
  8. Just bought a laptop and a vag-com cable, so hopefully i'll get to the bottom of this fault code soon. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Once i've worked out how to use it, happy to help anyone in the basingstoke area with diagnostic checking. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  9. i had the same thought about the switch, but the light comes on and goes off as it should. It's had a toad alarm fitted, so that might have something to do with it, but the install looks like it was done to a very high standard. Pedal is a little stiff and feels like you are hitting a notch halfway down and it's not that easy to get it in to gear. A few probs, but they're all really minor things. All the good stuff is there.
  10. yup, it's exactly like the sport in the sig. Was dark when we got home last night so no pics. Just checked the door cards and they're not plain grey, they've got little cats on them. But thank you for the offer. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> After driving it for a little while, i think the pedal box is on the way out, although not bad enough to make the gears crunch yet. Also the exhaust emmission light came on when we got home. Checked a few threads on here, but still not sure what could be causing it. I guessed it could just be a dodgy lambda reading, but some people have mentioned sticky throttle bodies. It's time's like this i wish i had vag-com! Oh yeah, it doesn't have a buzzer to let you know when you've left your lights on. It's the first new car i've seen that doesn't do it. Was wondering if you get the option to turn it on and off within vag-com?
  11. yes, it is light grey. It's got the tom interior, little mice (so girly!!!) When we pick it up, i'll take some pics to see if its the same. Thanks for replying. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  12. I think it's closer to bottle green. Some other people on here have the same, i think it's called taffeta green. It's the colour she's been after for a while anyway. Personally i love the jazz blue and the raven blue gtis. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Don't have any pics at the moment, will post some when we pick the car up. Thanks for reply, i'll ring the parts desk at vw on monday and start there.
  13. After about a year of looking my girlfriend has just bought a green lupo sport. We pick it up on wednesday, she's pretty excited. Will post pics when we have it. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Just wanted to put a quick post up to say, i've been lurking on this site for a while now and it's been really helpful. Given me an idea of the things to look for when buying one. So thanks all. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> Out of interest, where is the best place to get a replacement door card? The passenger side has a little tear in it. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />
