  1. I got a new PS3 250gb from play.com for the same price as others are selling the smaller version. I'll never fill it up or use it, but at £269.99 for the 250gb version, 2 bluerays and the Sony bluetooth remote i thought its a great price. Plus makes it future proof if I ever did want to through various movies and music on there as my entertainment system later in life if I get bored. There's a lot of placebo effect with having a 'better cable' more than often with HDMI; my advice is don't get a cheap one as the connectors will probably be rubbish but seems for around £15-20 you can get a good cable, with solid and secure conncectors and decide outer cable sleeve. I got a profigold one for around £18 posted and seems to do the job. All i've been told is that expensive cables mainly come into their own game and are worthwhile when running them over a longer distance.

    CDA on a tdi

Yep the 1.4 TDI is LOUD with an induction kit.... 'hissssss *suck*'' under boost. The loud noise I personally found is only when the boost is on (i.e. foot down) but at 70mph i didn't hear too much but a bit of turbo hiss that is just like normal air/wind passing over the car. The increase in 'tractor boom' is only under loading the throttle between 2-2500rpm at the loudest, but fine and easy to live with. Everything nfbr said above I agree by and there are sooo many technical articles floating on the internet to explain and back up everything said above. Dump valves are purely a sound modification, hence they need a controller box that is rigged up to the ECU to let the boost under throttle. I had a boost gauge on my 1.4 TDI and as nfbr says it doesn't go into a vacum.
  3. I took the bumper off at least 10+ times and it only takes 5 mins once you know how. Just takes time to remove the screws. I don't think there's much clearance to drop the lower part of the air box but worth a stab. Start by removing the off-side front lower air guide and jack the car up. You'll see the air box which you might be able to get to it then.
  4. 1) Jack the car up 2) Remove bumper 3) Unscrew 4 bolts on air filter housing Thats about it.....not the quickest air filter to change and new found out how to replace it without taking the bumper off.
  5. Either you lot have fat fingers or are whimps! lol! For drivers side you will sadly need to disconnect the full air intake system, just a matter of 2 bolts and the spring loaded clip on the MAF. As for passenger side (battery) I just undid the bolt holding the battery down to remove the metal sheet holding it down. Then gently move the battery backwards (in an upwards and back motion) this will give you enough clearance. I then use my left hand to find the side light bulb holder (has a sharp edge to it) and it turns. Basically you need strong fingers and fight the sharp edges to pull it out. After some colourful language it'll come free If not go to halfords and pay that 99p fitting to save your grazed knuckles and sore fingers lol

    1.4tdi tuning

I had a carbon enclosed simota induction, but failed to get it anywhere as the casin on it was too wide. I also bought a 90* alloy bend and silicon join to try and route it, but didn't have much time to mount it anywhere. Ended up chucking the alloy pipe as i accidently messed it up playing around with it shortening it. Right as for induction kits, they need one with a 70mm neck size (from what I remember). However in the Polo you're likely to have more space in the bay so might get away with it, but remember a BMC being hard to mount due to the length.

Hi, the Jetex was a 'cat-back' exhaust but the previous owner pretty much got a straight piece of pipe to take the cat off. Not sure torque/power in all honesty, might ask my friend who bought it off me to dyno it. Air filter system....I ran standard with normal element, then uprated, then went induction kit. Induction kit was fine, but got dirty quickly and doesn't help that much due to the hot air. Add's more noise, but on a derv thats not always the best noise. You could hear the turbo sucking a lot lol. Get a good panel filter unless you want to route the induction kit lower into the front bumper away from the heat, but I didn't have the time/effort to do that so just had a simota induction kit which worked ok when not too hot.

My old Jetex with the de-cat was silent when cruising but the main noise came from around 2krpm when boosting the car hard under acceleration

Can't watch it but if its that famous one now with an ugly front end, then its running 4-motion running gear. Also a while ago i posted the company's spec sheet for that car in a foreign language.

    1.4tdi tuning

Don't just focus on power, as one guy on the A2 forum only has 100hp but 213lb/ft of torque! Another has 111hp with 206lb/ft torque Speak to companies to see what they can do, as 213lb/ft of torque is crazy! However one A2 owner claims these figures from a re-map and miltek exhaust (done at Awesome) 131.22bhp @ 2146rpm 255.39 torques @ 1748rpm Some of those figures come from a 1.4 TDI 90hp version I will admit however which they say there's differences between the 75hp and 90hp engine. Some they list include: 'different turbos, exhaust manifolds and downpipes, different injectors, intercooler, clutch and flywheel. Oh and the gearboxes are different too!' Might be worth seeing if the parts are compatible and what benefits they may give

Have a search on seatcupra.net and here by someone called 'watkins'. He did A LOT of research into modifying a 1.4TDI and also got a full package quote and information from Allards. I remember he told me he was given ball park figures of around 150-170hp from the 1,4 TDI with a bit of work. Included a custom intercooler, flowed head, a hybrid turbo etc.....

    1.4tdi tuning

AMF is the one Others are Audi A2's. You thought about saving your money and converting it to a 1.9TDI? Just a thought as to get over 120hp things can get very expensive with uprated turbos etc...
  15. Didn't loose power guys, the air temp dropped by about 10*c from standard intercooler but the laaaaaaaaaaag was too much. The tiny turbo took ages to boost its way around the pipe work. Going back to the standard intercooler brought back the response. The overal affect was reduced performance on a normal day. The intercooler was off a Mitisuibishi Shogun 2.5TD. It was larger but not too much. With StormDevelopments advice and testing of stock vs FMIC it was better off using the stock Intercooler we found just because of the GT15 turbo would struggle to maintain the boost pressure in a larger intercooler. Personally the 1.4TDI turbo is soo small to run a FMIC purely bases on the extra pipe work needed. Plus the larger the intercooler the more time/volume is needed to make the boost pressure. This was the advice I was given. The one thing I was told was to look to see if the MK4 GTI TDI intercooler would fit. Only way I can see is if you run an induction kit and remove the whole air filter housing. Pipe work is no longer, intercooler has large channels and the surface area with give much better cooling properties. The pipe work on my TDI when it ran the FMIC wasn't the best, not just the choice of intercooler but due to the fact the sheer amount of pipe needed to run the intercooler mounted on the front bumper. The way the pipework on the TDI goes all the way around the back and outside the lower engine bay, its already quite a lengthy bit of pipework. Any intercooler on the front will add a minimum of 1-2m pipe work if you mount it in the centre of the bumper. I messed around with the pipework i have in various configurations when looking for alternatives, a Seat Ibiza Cupra 160TDI uses a FMIC which i considered. Plus look at the actual diameter of the boost piping on the 1.4TDI, its very thin in diameter. I've not got the intercooler or mountings, but anyone interested in some pipework i've still got this lying around My adivce from experience and trial/error...............don't bother unless going to a larger turbo or hybrid, stock intercooler did me no harm.
