  1. Hose clips : I have some rubber handled pliers and cutters... By using these the opposite away around and squeezing the clips with the inner of the handle it works easily enough and saves having to get a new tool you're more than likely not going to use that often.
  2. On both the aftermarket units I've had the connector has been like that as well... Do you have a multimeter? Could look at if the remote wire is constantly supplying power for some reason even when ignition is off?
  3. Update: cage was delivered yesterday, and got some front GTI hubs and calipers arriving tomorrow.
  4. Hi, looking for some advice. Since stripping my Lupo out, i've noticed that water is consistently pooling up in the passenger footwell after heavy rain. I've found the rough source of the issue, water is coming in down the passenger side C pillar, then running down the car till it reaches the footwell. I'm certain it didn't do this before, so it has to be something I've caused! I initially thought that this could be due to the rubber pipe thing that the wires for the tailgate run through - I did take this off to remove some wires, and since putting it back on, it "wobbles" a bit, and can be moved more than the drivers side one, which is firmly pressed to the car. What are the common areas for leaks around the tailgate area, and what would be the best way to seal this rubber tubing bit up if it's the cause? I've coated the outside in grease (to stop water going in that way as a test- but it doesn't seem to have stopped any at all. Not a major issue considering there's no carpets or anything to get damp, but I need to fix it. Cheers
  5. Still trying to find it, I appear to have lost the steering wheel during a house move. Not sure how I've managed it. I'll check again tonight, sorry!
  6. Bump - updated list with sold items etc...
  7. Removing original seat runners (drilling spot welds) - 1 hour each sideFitting the new seat rails and mounting plates - 1 hour each side..Took us around 4 hours to do the whole job. That seems awfully long!
  8. In all honesty I hadn't even considered the Lupo sport brakes, I'm not sure why. I will look into that option then, you're right that ir doesn't matter that much for the car, especially now it's lost so much weight! Thanks for all the advice :-)
  9. Ok thanks, This might be a daft question but is polo 6N/6N2 GTI hubs the same as the Lupo? And can the Lupo Sport hubs be used if I can't find any GTI
  10. As above, after these parts. Message me if you have any. Cheers
  11. I've changed the rear beam on my 1.0 Lupo to a GTI one complete with the GTI discs and calipers... and now I'd like to upgrade the front brakes.. It's being used for rallying and I'm potentially looking at an engine upgrade at some point in the future, so it is a worthwhile investment before I get the usual question of "why on a 1.0 " .. So the question is: Will GTI front discs & calipers just bolt on? Or do you definitely need to change the hubs as well G60 brake conversion, out of the question? Or what other recommendations? Cheers
  12. I've not yet driven it, the rear brakes still aren't connected! Another job to do. I didn't weigh the seats unfortunately, although I remember seeing somewhere the original seats were around 20kg, so I'd estimate it's a saving of about 10kg each side. I haven't yet thought about brakes or suspension, I've just been reading on TA coilovers, the reviews didn't seem that great. Yours have been fine?
  13. Both sides of seat rails welded in and the seats test fitted. Also put the holes in for the hand-held extinguisher. Roll cage should be here soon!
  14. You can't directly add images, you have to first add them to a photo hosting site (I use photobucket) and then add the IMG tag into your post. I ordered a system, but got it from JJC race & rally, it cost £100. No comparison to the lupo, like you say it's entirely different!
  15. I've actually got the extinguisher from JJC race & rally, eBay had an offer on yesterday of 20% off a lot of items, so got the kit for a steal! Post some pictures of your car up when you've got them in!
  16. Ordered fire extinguisher last night. Got a lot of the parts I need now, just need to get them fitted! Aiming for March for first event.
  17. Ah that sounds good, have you got a thread going for it? For the roll cage I'm going with a 6 point weld in clubman cage by custom cages, it's £570 including VAT.
  18. Got the seats, made up with them! Other progress has just been grinding bits away that are no longer needed. Ordering the roll cage this week. Things are looking up!
  19. Stripping the interior, it's being used as a rally project
  20. Just sent you a message
