  1. If it's not the pedal box, what is it? Car started normally, after about two miles engine started racing, after three miles it lost power and clutch pedal seemed to be stuck down. Stopped on hard shoulder. When I restarted the engine (to see if I could limp to the next junction) there was no power transmission at all. If it makes any difference, when I bought the car (about 5 years ago), it was (relatively) cheap because it had been recovered (after being stolen was what we were told) but we believe it had been in a quite serious accident because, for one thing, we found that one of the doors was steel not aluminium! Could the normal GTi clutch and pedal box been replaced with a cable one then, perhaps. I don't know what I'm looking at here, but my OH says it certainly looks like a cable clutch, not a hydraulic one.
  2. Why so? It's got a cable gearbox, shows all the signs of pedal box failure, due to the low mileage, I doubt it's the clutch itself, and it failed very suddenly....
  3. Mine went this morning, on the M1, luckily within a free recovery zone (due to road widening) and only a few miles from home so the helpful recovery people took me (and the car) back home. Lupo is 7 years old so hopefully I'll be able to get it fixed for free (although I don't know how I'll get it to the garage as it doesn't go at all).
  4. I'll get Mr Igor to put ours on when he gets home from work. Mrs Igor
  5. Sounds brilliant. When are you taking me?
  6. I've had the demo for ages too and love it, but am rather disappointed with the album, it sounds far too clean and polite, with all the rough edges (which was what I liked about them) smoothed off. Mostly playing at the moment: Arctic Monkeys (the demo!), Gorillaz (Demon Days), Editors (Back Room), Devendra Banhart (Cripple Crow), Anthony and the Johnsons (the first self-titled one not the overhyped I Am A Bird Now), Kate Bush (Arial), Hard-Fi (Stars of CCTV), Blur (Think Tank -- much slagged off at the time but I like it), Jackie Leven (Elegy for Johnny Cash), The Departure (All Mapped Out), British Sea Power (The Decline Of -- better than Open Season by a long way), Franz Ferdinand (You Could Have It So Much Better -- a bit tired of them now, but was given it for Xmas and it's in the player along with the others).
