  1. Haven't found one, but maybe I'm using the wrong key words. Thanks for your suggestion.
  2. Hi All, Anyone have one of the above in useable condition please? Much appreciated, Chris
  3. Hi All, I am missing one of the above items. Does anyone have any lying around? Many thanks Chris
  4. Many thanks to you both for your info, much appreciated, regards Chris
  5. Hi All, I'm just about to begin restoration of my GTI rear beam. The rear stub axle mounting plates are quite crusty. Only one side, part number 6E0501466A, is available from VW Classic Parts. So two questions please... 1. I assume these two parts, 6E0501466A and 6E0501465A must be handed somehow. In what way? Could I convert/modify two 6E0501466A to fit? 2. Does anybody remanufacture this part? I have had a company called Epytec suggested but they only appear to offer a camber adjustment plate. Any help much appreciated, Thanks Chris
  6. Hi All, Anybody using a fitted outdoor cover for thier Lupo GTI that they can recommend please? Thanks Chris
  7. Hi All, After 17 years of ownership it's time to start restoring the 2004 GTI. It's suffered underneath sadly. My restorer has asked me to try find a better condition rear beam. I've been reading on here for the last few hours about rear beams but would like to ask for clarification, sorry. What do I need exactly? Will only a GTI rear beam fit? What are my options? Does anybody have a good one that I can blast (without it falling to rusty dust) and powder coat? Does anybody have a rear beam exploded diagram so I can understand all the components, brakes, splash guards, nuts & bolts etc. Your help and advice as always much appreciated. Regards Chris
  8. Cheers mk2 - I will definitely take a look. Regards Chris
  9. Thanks Rich. Car went into garage today for a Service so I asked their opinion too. Change stalk was their first suggestion. I tried Xenon main beam a few times after arriving at garage and it worked on/off both lights fine - but I only left them on main beam for a few seconds. When it failed the night before they had been on main beam for a few minutes. Anyway it's sure to fail again so think I'll change and eliminate the stalk. Do you know if the GTI stalk is the same as non-GTI Lupos and if it's still available from VW? Do you know the fuse number so I can mark it if it needs removing in a panic? Regards and thanks Chris
  10. Hi All, Driving home yesterday at night I flicked the main beam on ok, a few moments later tried to flick it off. But blue light stayed on, not sure if one or both Xenons stayed on main beam, but oncoming cars were flashing me. I tried several times to flick the main beam back off again and finally they went back off and blue light went out too. Whilst I was frantically trying to get them off I started to smell an electrical burning. Once the main beam went off the smell stopped. Made it home ok resisting not to put main beam back on. I haven't tried it again today nor any diagnostics - thought I'd ask here first, see if anybody else had the same happen to them or have any ideas. I've read on here that the Xenons use an internal solenoid to switch between dipped and main beam. I assume there's no feedback from the headlight solenoid system to keep the blue light illuminated if the solenoid gets stuck. So am I looking at the indicator stork? Or is there a relay between stork and solenoid? If your suggestion is to change the stork - does the steering wheel and air bag need to come off? Thanks in advance for your comments and help. Cheers Chris
  11. Many thanks once again for the diagrams, photo and information. LR5V - I assume you had a lot of masking off to do when powder coating the spacers. Regards Chris
  12. Thanks yeha, Still just not sure in this "sandwich" of parts where the splash guard comes. It looks to me like the splash guard fixes/wraps "around" the stub axle. Does the stub axle have to be removed to gain access to the splash guard mounting bolts? I was expecting the stub axle to mount directly to the stub axle mounting plate (16) and then other holes on this plate to take the bolts for the splash guard. If this is the case then I should be able to leave the stub axle in place. Cheers Chris
  13. Thanks LR5V for the info. Further VW reading shows some cars with the need to remove the rear hubs/bearings to "pass" the new guard over. You have confirmed this to be the case with the Lupo. Can the new guard be carefully modified/cut to "slide" over the hub so avoiding the need to remove it? Not prefect I guess but a far simpler job. I do have a very crusty beam and plan to clean that up in situ. Maybe I should consider a complete rear end strip down over the Winter. Sounds like a BIG job though. How big a job is it to remove the complete beam and then do the clean up and new guards all off the car? Are there any exploded diagrams showing the rear axle setup? Thanks Chris
