If you have to question if you will get injured, killed etc while in her Majesty's Service (everyone please salute), you should turn around walk away and become a "Fountain Pen Repairer" or something. The forces are not a job... their a vocation. You do it because its for the greater good. You do it for the man next to you, you do it for us at home. Its so if you die for your queen and country you get burried with a union jack drapped over your coffin. At least you would of died for something, rather than because of something. I think it was Col Cluster who once led a charge into battle saying: "who wants to live for ever" They followed him without question. If your not in that mind set already mate, well lets just say... please become that "fountain pen repairer". Because i would have more faith in the girl guides to protect us.... Truth of the matter is your more likely to be seriously injured while training than while in action. My 2 pence worth: Make a decision, get on with it and play the best game you can, with the cards you are dealt. I wish you all the best with it. If it was me and i was 18 again... i'd do it!
  3. Phone Adam on 07852 146 971 He might be able to do it. He seems to be based in North london.

It just seems everyone i know who's ex-forces seems to be very well set... Personal experiences. I did not know quite how to put into words.. but you seem to of hit the nail on the head there. I looked into joining the RAF as a pilot when i was 18 (I'd wanted it since i was 5 yrs old, Dad ex-RAF & MOD, Uncle ex RAF, G-dad ex-army). But back then (don't know what the situation is now) i had to sign up for 12 years. Which when your 18 seems scary to think you will be out at 30... I thought i would be nearly dead by then. 30 is old! Even though i'm 28 now... I think with the army most people don't miss it till they leave. Then they wish they could go back in. Then they go loopy it seems...

RAF Regiment = Cannon Fodder If you really want to do that sort of thing, your probally better off in the Army. Join the Army, get a Trade... Leave, make a mint...
  6. Right... 1 bottle of blossom hill, white zinfandel 2 bottles of magners 1 dvd (fools gold) .................................................AND its past midnight. At least i was not the only one who spelt it wrong too...
  7. DVLA que you mean... 100 million times worse...
  8. Here's the plan.... Get the current owner to go with you to the DVLA office. Get there very early or you will have hours to wait in the que. Use their insurance to change it back to PLG. Then once you have your new Tax disc do change of ownership. Thats the quickest way to do it without running any risks of getting caught/fined etc... Also its the disabled persons responsibility to ensure they don't pass on the tax disc. So it's in their interest to "help" you do it.
  9. You can NOT tax a car online being a new owner. As the Tax disc will go to the old owner. So you can only tax online once you are the owner. This takes 2-6 weeks as far as the DVLA are concerned. Also to tax the car with it being registered disabled, you need to go to the local DVLA office to change the taxation class. For this you will need a valid insurance cover note.
  10. I know this is for a 1.4 16v but @ £132+vat for the whole system it maybe worth while giving them a call to see what they can do. I've used them before and they were fine. http://www.onlineautomotive.co.uk/search_results.php? 0844 880 7878
  11. Sod colour. Go with the "better" car.

    New tele

I'm looking for a new Telly at the moment too... Sony will be the only thing i'll buy... Yes there are probally better out there. But Sony it is for me! Everything sony from DVD to Digi Camera, PS3, Cam corder. Can't explain it. Maybe i've been brain washed....
  13. Motor trade is a funny old game... If you speak to anyone thats been in it since Pre- 1998 they will say "its not what it use to be", "do you remember the good old days" etc... Yet more cars are sold each year now than 10 years ago. If its Main dealers laying off people, you may find a hidden agenda with the manufacturer... Which small family run franchises are more open to being bullied by the likes of the manufactures etc... they want "groups" not "individuals" franchises, its so they can control the Products value and future value... long term its better business for them. It also depends who your talking too... some people i know are one stage off slashing their wrists... Others are having the time of their life... Salesmen are also the worst for talking themselves into a rut... "quite ain't it", "whats this time waster want?" even when the bloke has 10k hanging out his back pocket because he NEEDS a car coz it got written off last week... Their in the wrong frame of mind before they have even spoken to anyone... so they sell less cars. Cars now are a essential to most people. I think the recession is mostly in peoples head... and if we're not careful we will talk our selves into it. The media are mostly to blame for this. I personally won't be paying any attention to anyone in this frame of mind until i'm personally on my hands & knees. Until then i'll keep going forward and adapting making the best out of every option i have. My 2p worth... flame me down if you feel different.
  14. Might work, might not... Never tried on a megane. 1/ Pop out the side repeater / Front foglamp 2/ Disconnect said repeater / Foglamp 3/ Hook up the bare wire to a spare car battery 4/ Press unlock Its got to be better than scraping down the side of your car... Hope that helps.
  15. Unit Stocking is a standard thing... Nothing to worry about. Its all perfectly normal for a dealer. Don't worry about it... Focus on the car your buying mate.
  16. £2000 28 Years old Male No Claims No Points Including the Mrs With her 2 non-fault claims - (She was actually FOC) Any Car- Any Value
  17. Imagine being the one who owns it! I feel its a bit more F117 rather than B2
  18. Black electrical tape over a warning light... Nice... Loved car...
  19. For some reason i don't think the cops are allowed to "hide." But i could be wrong... If they did'nt stop you i would say you are in the clear.
  20. Unfortunately some VW dealers don't really put the effort in when it comes to these claims(can't be bothered/not worth it etc/not trained)... I found there was a very good one in Nottingham i think it was(it was in the last thread about this type of stuff). He knew exactly what was what, how to claim etc & how to get it approved etc. Might be worth a journey up there. My recommendation would be to try a couple of dealers first before going to VWUK... Because once VWUK say No they won't change their mind no matter what Dealer goes to them. You might just get the dealer that can work his magic with the claims department.
  21. Would you duck? Or just stand there? http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ND7hG1aIZwM
  22. Hi minijay good luck with this. I really mean it. Just so you know: There is no "lemon" law in this country- so they don't "have" to give your money back automatically. Its a very long, drawn out process so you need to tackle it head on, you can't do it half hearted. Keep a detailed diary of events. They are responsible to provide you with a product in merchantable quality for 3 months(at least). Be very careful if you take out a loan to pay off a HP aggreement, you don't want to be paying interest on top of interest. And with regards to your APR your paying. Are you paying PPP/PPi? If so, can you cancel it? APR is NOT a true reflection of the amount you are paying. Yes you FLAT RATE is high around 12%. But check the total cost your paying back in £'s don't compare by APR's. And no one's in any position to comment on what APR your paying. Because they don't know: -Amount you borrowed. -Term of Loan Even if they do know that, they don't know your credit score. So it may of been a really good rate for your circumstances. I've charged 25% flat rates (52%APR), but thats set out by the finance company not me. If you need help with any of this feel free to Pm me and then we can talk on the phone. Also i'm only around the corner from Enfield Carcraft, so if you want to do it in person your more than welcome. Car Craft do advertise to be cheap, but in reality they charge so far over the odds its insane... They once even told me renault only make a clio "172 cup"... and there was no such thing as a 172 with a/c,lth etc etc. All the best Neil
  23. That is a nice one... It did seem to stand out from the others.
  24. Now that is dangerous..... They don't say what condition/working etc they are... Or are they all working... Great find by the way
