  1. Many thanks CJ1... Bulbs are fine, I'll check the relay... Thanks again, Adrian
  2. Dear All, Am trying to get at the indicator switch on the wife's Arosa as it sometimes does a rapid flash when indicating right. Before shelling out on a new one I'll try switch cleaner but can't get the column covers off. Theer are two star/torx screws underneath. I can get the larger one to turn, think it's T20. Anyone any idea what size the smaller one is please?? Thanks, Adrian
  3. Can anyone help bluebottle and me please? I'm having to replace the reverse light switch on my wife's 04 plate Arosa 1.0 & I can't get the ******** plug off either (arthritis in the thumbs doesn't help!!) Any info appreciated... Cheers, Adrian
  4. Damn - the 12mm (which is a plug spanner, rubber bit and all) fits the 2 sets I have bought, believing that they were correct... Any idea what should be fitted to an '04 1.0 engine with an AUC28**** number ?? many thanks, Adrian
  5. Thanks, I'll try a bit of force on the housing but what about the various pipes? Did you disconnect them first?? I have a deep socket (12mm) but the walls are seemingly too thick - looks like a thin mild steel one is needed?? Cheers, Adrian
  6. Dear All, I have joined as many do, seeking help!! Hopefully in time I will be able to offer some too! The Arosa is my wife's but I drive it quite often (Mine's a Pug 107 - we don't have big cars these days!!) and once the warranty was out I've looked after it myself.. This usually involved oil changes, plus the odd fixing a seat catch, tracing a strange induction noise etc.. Always use OEM filters & fully synth oil (whatever was on special offer at the time!). I'm not new to car maintenance, have been doing this a long time but usually on older cars... Now, somewhat overdue, is the stuff I was supposed to do at 40K miles... The car is a 1.0S 04 plate, one of the last I guess. The air filter housing is not round but a huge square effort with 2 10mm bolts under caps near the front.. I've bought an oblong filter from halfords but I'm damned if I can see how to get the plastic monstrosity off - seems to be held by 3 or 4 pipes & possibly something underneath.. Any guidance here would be appreciated.. Today has been nice here (Bristol) so I thought I'd do the plugs.. have some super wizzo NGK Platinums of (hopefully) the right spec.. So I raised the hideous plastic effort enough to get at the plugs. Pulled the cap off, hell, they're on tight! Got out my slimline 12mm plug socket.. To my amazement it's too big.... The walls of this thing are pretty damn thin so I really couldn't believe it, tried several times... Are we talking special tool here ??? I can't believe VW would make a car that you can't even get the bl**dy plugs out!! All help much appreciated Cheers, Adrian
