  1. Don't know if I've ever actually seen an FSI model in person.
  2. Unlikely to cause any damage at all, although the petrol will be grim by this point, so some fresh in the tank and fresh oil would help stop any potential hiccups while you do it. Depends how much you want to try.

  6. Still in the circuit then? What you using to write? Wonder if it's the writer rather than the chip? Could buy a blank and see if you can write it?

  8. What's the ECU, Bosch, Siemens? How you flashing it, via OBD or direct to EEPROM?
  9. Send me an ECU dump via PM, I'll see if I can work out the code based on what my understanding is. Then you can test the code. Nothing to lose right? It's not that the EEPROM can't take it, but if you don't want to desolder then you're using clips and the EEPROM on the ECU is ever so slightly smaller than the 24c04 Immo chip which the clips fit like a glove. The clips slip very easily and if you're reading or writing at the time, that's not very clever.
  10. I think we need to create a new buyers guide that's for sure. The information on the one we had was invaluable and had the brains of several different people behind it, so to lose it was unfortunate. I spotted that it was referenced on other VW forums the other day (albeit a dead hyperlink) so I tried to recover it via Wayback, but it doesn't appear to have cached the pages correctly https://web.archive.org/web/20180327234857/http://wiki.clublupo.co.uk/Main_Page as you can see We could do a new Buyers Guide as forum posts. This wouldn't be too hard, but it feels a bit of a painful way of doing it. We could do it as threads where the top thread is authored by just one user and then they (or I) can copy the individual posts into some order? Alternatively, we could try and set up a new Wiki? We do have options. For what it's worth, I am currently about to undertake the 'not-for-the-feint-hearted' How To of Immo and ECU work that I've spent the last few days doing in my evening. It's definitely going to take more than 15 mins though, which is why a Wiki would be really good. I wouldn't usually start a How To by saying "if you aren't sure, don't do it...." but this one, I think I just might. I suppose I can start with a How To WIP Thread, to track what I need to put currently. Funnily enough, I remember writing that original post. It was about half an hour after I'd changed a headlight bulb on the Lupo and came to the conclusion that if you are a 17 year old kid Lupo owner with no experience, but desperate to learn about cars, you'd actually struggle to change the bulb without some help on a Lupo. It's not as easy as you think it should be. There are actually easier jobs, that you'd expect to be harder.
  11. Ask your mate if he still has your bin file from your ECU and I reckon I can get your SKC ( @mk2 didn't you say you have one? ) and then you can fix your key issue. Just proving it off currently but until the Arosa comes back I can't. MPI doesn't really matter. Immo3 came into use on most Lupos around 2002. I will admit, none of this is for the feint hearted. There's been a few occasions I've had my phone at the ready to tell @mattarosa his ECU is bricked. Getting the code from the IMMO box isn't horribly difficult though. The ECU EEPROM feels like you're playing with fire every time you touch it. I will eventually document this stuff. All I would say is, if you own a Lupo with only one key. Get a spare cut but don't panic about getting it paired.
  12. I've just been able to extract the PIN code from the ECU, on an Immo2 vehicle. I'll be honest.... this is kind of huge really. Aside from it blowing my theory out the water that the PIN is not held within the ECU, rather the Immo, it also potentially correlates to my previous theory that I'd been able to do this on my old Immo2 Lupo SDI. I've since sold the vehicle, and couldn't remember. Lupo GTI Immo3 next.

  14. Not at all and the Immo chip is stable while still soldered. It's the ECU that isn't. However, the PIN is accessed from the Immo chip I believe. I will find out when he brings the car back.
  15. I've potentially cracked @mattarosa's Immobilizer and extracted the PIN. What I need now is his car so I can actually try and test it. If so, we're there. We have our (relatively) easy method of getting the PIN code without need for messing around with desoldering or anything. I've tried to extract the ECU ROM as well. That appears to be a desoldering job as I'm getting a bad read everytime. Although theoretically, anything with the ECU should be possible through the OBD2 port.
  16. I've owned three Lupos for a combined total of 131k miles and around 10 years of Lupo involvement. I shouldn't have sold my SDI but there we go.
  17. For those looking, if I was looking for a Lupo, I'd buy this on the spot. Issues are easy to fix SDI engines can run on egg fried rice and never die. 30 quid tax.

  20. The company i want to buy the parts off are currently closed and doing no business. So I'm slightly delayed on this. They promised me that they intend to re-open tomorrow. If no luck, I'll order from elsewhere.
  21. Lupo. Yes I'm biased but: Yaris is exactly what you expect it to be. It's a cheap Japanese runabout. They run forever on marbles for oil but they're also a favourite among those with a fondness for recycled pop bottles for trim and uncomfortable seats. Reliable, and good mpg, but the interior alone leaves a lot to be desired. Mini's are expensive, awful MPG and I don't think they're reliable at all. The reliability thing with them is a myth and they are expensive to fix. Finally, neither have anything remotely competing with VAG-COM and in my opinion, that should factor into decisions when buying your car.
