  1. I don't know why, but Renault's are ****ing dreadful it seems. I've had numerous friends, plus my brother in-law who've owned Renault's and I'm not sure any of them have had an easy ride. One of them had a brand new Megane seize after about 12k miles or something, had all sorts of issues going through court and stuff to eventually be given a full refund (he didn't want a new one) + damages for the incident.

    Hey!

Currently driving Smash Bro Brawl? I reckon this one might be an imposter.
  3. You want speak to Geoff, he'll tell you how do it probably
  4. Central locking microswitches have packed up. You might be able fix it by dismantling the mechanism and fixing the solder joints. If not, new mechanism, cheap enough.
  5. No, of course I don't need one. I park my Lupo every day in some pretty tight spaces, up some rather awkward roads. That's not the point. It's just a little bit of fun A project if you will. Also a bit of a learning mechanism. It's knowledge that would probably carry to the next car I own, which will probably be another VW Nobody needs remote central locking, yet look how many people have fitted it? (And in my case intend to fit it once I get round to it )
  6. That fancy thing Ford offers? I think that's a little harder than wiring a reversing camera.
  7. Yeah, so cut the plug off roughly leaving an inch of cable on the light units end, bullet clip both ends, then I could simply swap them if I ever needed too?
  8. http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?/topic/85296-numberplate-leds-before-and-after/ I'm wrong. The second one won't work because it's a plug in system. So really, the first one is the one to go for. I wonder if with a bit of modification, we could make it work with the OEM plug + socket, rather than cutting the original wiring, just in case we needed to replace the original OEM one (get it through MOT or something) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Number-plate-light-VOLKSWAGEN-GOLF-IV-LUPO-OE-1J6943021B-/330889572261?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4d0a8e2fa5 This an an original OEM one, however... this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volkswagen-License-Number-Plate-LED-Light-Fit-GOLF-4-5-6-LUPO-PASSAT-CC-POLO-/261181026904?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3ccf9a3258 Comes with a cable adapter, by taking one of those, and a couple of Bullet clips, that would be a really smooth solution to this issue. Does anyone know where I can buy those cables? I don't like the idea of scotchclipping them although the alternative would be to simply add a few bullet clips in there, just a bit of an awkward job under the bumper like that lol.
  9. Does that mean he had no rear windscreen wiper? I'm not really looking to remove my rear wiper. I've had a good look through eBay at various different cameras, I'm down to these two. I prefer the second one because if you look, the light is built-in to the camera case and doesn't require wiring in,at least that's what it looks like. However, it's not made specifically for the Lupo, it's made for a Polo, Passat and Golf MK6, which means it might not fit. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SONY-CCD-CAR-CAMERA-FOR-VW-PHAETON-SCIROCCO-GOLF-4-5-6-MK4-MK5-EOS-LUPO-BEETLE-/251031874520?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item3a72aa6bd8 - Guaranteed to fit in the Lupo, at least it seems that way. Number plate light will need wiring in. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SONY-CCD-Rear-View-CAMERA-for-VW-Volkswagen-Polo-V-6R-Golf-6-VI-Passat-CC-/251035963735?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item3a72e8d157 - Not guaranteed to fit. Number plate light won't need wiring in it seems. In truth, I think the first is a safer bet, but I'm tempted to try the second one. It's only 13 quid or so...
  10. I need to buy the camera first Once I've bought the camera, made sure it fits in the slot, I'll send you a message Could be an interesting How To
  11. To be honest, my head unit support both. It has a reversing camera function, which is triggered when the car is in reverse, but it also has an Aux in, which I could easily use for something like that ^ Only problem is mounting it and getting the wire into the back of the head unit from the front of the car? I'm definitely going fit the reversing camera I reckon, just for a bit of fun!
  12. OK, so Ill definitely have to take the bumper off for that right?
  13. I had a 106 years ago, dead reliable, never missed a beat.
  14. Al, theres two, theres one with two screws at the side, and there's this one with clips. I think the one with clips would be more correct for the Lupo as the number plate light compartment DOES have screws, but it seems to be held in with clips. Al, how do you get the wiring from the bumper through the back into the car? Do you have to drill a hole?
  15. So... out of curiosity, who's had a go at this? My Double Din unit offers rear-view on reverse and considering the price of parts (£25 tops) is so cheap, I'm really considering just doing it for the sake of doing it, but as with all these jobs, they usually go tits up and I'll end up with a ****ed up part on my Lupo lol! By the way, I'm not considering this because I can't park lol, I just fancy a bit of curious tinkering If I was going to try any camera, I'd use one of the CCD number plate cams. I'm going to measure my number plate light unit tomorrow, see the correct dimensions as they all slightly differ on the bay. However, I reckon the one for the Golf MK4 would probably fit. From what I've read, there is two ways of connecting it: 1. Feeding a 5m cable down the side of the car (I assume where the speaker wires go?) and then wiring up to the back of the head unit. or 2. Using a wireless system. I can see problems with both. Feeding the cables through various pieces of trim that I'm not used to sounds a right ballache and getting them off is hard enough, but a wireless system doesn't sound brill either. I imagine there's a **** tonne of interference, also I assume that there is no trigger for when your car is in reverse as it will always be on. On a wired system, you use a 12v feed from the light. You'd have to hook it up to a switch or something I guess. Using something like a SPST switch for this would be a piece of piss though. As far as I can tell, the hardest part of this would be getting the reversing camera unit into the number plate light holder. Someone said on another thread, you'd have to take the entire bumper off as there is no access from the back. If that's the case. I'll respectfully pass. If not, I'll have a crack at this just for fun, then do a write up if I do it successfully. I don't mind removing the trim as such, although I'm not sure how to get the wiring up to the back of the head unit, although I suppose I can just follow the speaker wires right? Thoughts anyone? (none telling me that I've got too much time please )
  16. So there was no need to remove the entire mechanism or anything too intense?
  17. Hey Guys, I remember reading somewhere on here, a member suggested that you really should perform 'Routine Maintenance' on the electric windows every six months or so. What would that entail? Is it a case of spraying the mechanism with WD40? Or is that going to land me with a window full of grease?
  18. A faulty pyrotechnic system? You sure you weren't at a Whitesnake gig? That's certainly a new car related term to me. With regards to the light, god knows. I really don't know, I have a VCDS warning about my airbags (Although the airbag light is not on). Something like "no voltage detected on B+ line" or something, I don't remember exactly. But when I read on various VW forums, apparently it can be caused by the solder on the terminals to the airbag itself corroding. I've never looked at mine, can't be bothered. Is it the same issue for yours? Are you sure the part couldn't be fixed, even if its a bit of the old DIY'ness. I would say chat to Lupoboz but it looks like he won't be trading anymore so I'm not sure.
  19. I wish this would work for a pre 01 sdi
