    Catch 22

Hoya folks, Back in March, a BMW 316 went into me as I was passing through a single lane bridge. I had right of way, the other party went past a "give way" sign. You'd think it was a home banker for me wouldn't you? Well, after eight months of farting around, my insurance company are advising me to settle for a 50/50, all due to the fact that there were no independant witnesses. Basically, it's my word against the other party's. I've never put in a claim in my life until now, and I feel very, very cheated. I've done nowt wrong, yet I'm getting penalised like mad for it. My insurance company have given me 14 days to respond, otherwise they'll assume I'll settle for the 50/50. Any advice or ideas welcome! Engine

There are pros and cons to upgrading from a 1.0 to a 1.4. In my experience, I went from a MK1 Arosa 1.0Mpi to a 52-plate Lupo 1.4 - the Lupo had a great little engine and it was fantastic on the open road. However, it was rather thirsty for juice round town in traffic. Whereas the 1.0 was great round town, suspect on longer journeys - I had an expensive breakdown 60 miles from Dublin - the water pump failed (I'd done close on 700 miles round Ireland in the previous week) - on my way back to Liverpool. Not cheap! The head gasket went once I'd got home as a consequence which I was expecting to be honest. As I do most of my travelling through suburbia, I've recently gone back to an 02-plate MK2 Arosa 1.0Mpi It's horses for courses at the end of the day really. Andy
  3. This might be a bit cheeky, but go to your local friendly VW/Seat dealer and ask the friendly folk in there if they can budge their friendly set of HU removal keys into your Arosa's dash? Worked for me Andy style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  4. Hiya Tigz, I have about 100 quid for speakers. The only thing on my system I'm truly happy with is the sub set-up. I was thinking about putting in a 4-channel amp and running everything off that. But I'm usually skint. My current JVC head unit is fairly battle-scarred, it needed replacing and I had a little bit of money. Also I LOVE digital radio! I'm always messing round, trying to think of ways of "improving" (my definition of "improving" anyway) my sound system. I would dearly LOVE someone to put a new one in for me - I've seen some works of art on ICE pics page - but in a warped kind of way, I like farting around with what's available and reasonably priced. Rome wasn't built in a day. So until that Lottery win......... Andy style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  5. Hiya folks, some opinions and advice needed. Getting a JVC DB711 head unit, the one with DAB radio on it and an external aerial. That's the sound bit. When I got the Arosa (my third one) the factory door speakers were shot, so I ripped them out and as a temporary measure threw in a pair of Aiwa speakers out of on old ghetto blaster! Yes, I know it sounds crude and yes, they were hastily installed using just one screw hole, a hex bolt, some spring washers and a nyloc nut on each door. But can anyone recommend some decent door speakers for an Arosa that are reasonably priced with a good sound that can be run off the head unit? I've disconnected the tweeters on top of the dash by the way. Otherwise, I've a Calibra amp running a 10" sub in the boot, and one of those bloody heavy Stealth Shelves with a pair of Sony 6" X 9"s (also destroyed!). The Stealth Shelf is coming out. Ta, Andy style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  6. Me's number 32670 "Top Gear" is without doubt the funniest show on television. Get well soon, Hamster Andy

The back of the magnet WILL hit the window on the way down - happened to me Andy
  8. Current law states that the ONLY colours you're allowed to have showing from the front of your vehicle is white (headlamps, low beams, etc) and yellow (indicators). I once had a set of "Knight Rider" lights on the front of my old Arosa that the local plod firmly told me to disconnect.... Andy
  9. Hiya Steve, Welcome to the site, good to know there's more Arosa owners around Liverpool. Andy
  10. Update - Got a call on Saturday morning from the sales manager at the SEAT dealership. They said they'd sent a cheque out to Black Horse on the previous Thursday night / Friday morning for the sum I was told was outstanding that day, which was just over 3000. Apparently, the SEAT Dealership have a dispute over the outstanding finance on the traded-in Lupo. They say when they first approached Black Horse they were told just over 2600 was outstanding (what I originally estimated), but now the amount has gone up to 3000. I know interest is incurred, but there's something going on there. In hindsight, I should've checked with Black Horse about trading in the Lupo first, before going ahead with anything. I'm checking with Black Horse tomorrow morning that they have had the cheque, they better have had. I'll also re-instate the DD just in case. Thanx for your help guys Andy

  12. Hiya folks, Problems with finance and stuff. I'll try to be as brief as I can...... Swapped my Lupo for an Arosa at a reputable SEAT dealership in NW England at the end of last month, all's well and good so far. My Lupo was financed with Black Horse. I was told by the SEAT dealer that they could pay off what was outstanding with Black Horse. I told the SEAT dealer that it was approx 2600 owing. They told me it wasn't a problem, they could sort it all out with the finance company........ Well, they haven't. I made a routine call to Black Horse yesterday to tell them I was cancelling my direct debit with them. However, they told me that the Lupo agreement is still active and they have had no contact with the SEAT dealer to settle the outstanding money. I was also told that there was actually 3000 owing on the Lupo, 400 quid more than I estimated. The SEAT Dealer has had my Lupo since the 25th August and in that time I get the impression no one there has spoken to Black Horse at all. A payment for my old Lupo is due out on the 21st, with the first payment for the Arosa coming out on the 25th. I've cancelled the direct debit for the Lupo. I haven't the money to pay both, nor should I? Today, I've been trying to speak to someone at the SEAT dealership in question. Despite numerous attempts, no one has returned my calls. Can anybody on here advise me on further action I should take? Good and bad comments about my actions welcome! Andy

  14. Hiya folks, This is ANYA3......... border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" alt="" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" alt="" /> She replaces ANYA2....... border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" alt="" /> Andy
  15. I like the Lexus tailights. They cost a fortune when I first got them (about 3 years ago). My new Arosa's silver, and just personal preference, the Lexus lights look pretty cool when fitted. I dunno, there's surely a way around this problem.... Andy
