  7. Hi, on my gti the clock seems to reset itself after about 2000 miles, is this normal? This doesn't seem to happen on my 1.0e, does anyone know at what exact number it goes back to 0? Btw I'm talking about the mileage counter on the bottom, the one you can reset manually.

  9. Some of you may disagree with me on this, but as I was going through the Archive/How To, I realized that we seem to lack basic instructions for fairly fundamental tasks while being overloaded with 'vanity' tutorials so to speak. I'm not saying these are bad, I intend on writing one or two myself when I get chance (we need a proper one for RCL which I will write over the next few days), but it seems strange that we don't have a single tutorial for replacing a headlight bulb on a non-GTI Lupo. This isn't the easiest task in the world for a novice, yet there's not a single description on how to do it. Another one that's missing is how to replace a Brake Light Switch. Why? It's a really simple task, but not if you don't know where to look! I'm not suggesting that the current information isn't useful. I'm just saying perhaps we need to look at compiling more tutorials, on more basic subjects as well as more complicated. I'm expecting a load of abuse here or 30 "why don't you write them then" comments, but like I said, just an observation.

  10. I've seen this idea on a few forums now. How about we start a photo of the day thread? There seem to be a fair few of us on here with at least some interest in photography so just an opportunity to post some good photos up for people to appreciate or comment on RULES: 1. one pic per member per day 2. must be the work of the poster 3. try to keep the images to a reasonable size to assist viewing. A link to the full res version may be posted if required. 4. please respect others images and ask permission before using elsewhere or downloading to your computer (Added by Silver! 14 Oct 08 as the original rules seem to have disappeared)

  11. Online Car Insurance Quote with Prestige Renewed! Modified & Standard Cars! We trialled this a few months ago. At the time, feedback from Tom ‘Gudzy’ of 350Z-uk was - ‘around 10% cheaper than my current policy....(and you were slightly more expensive than them when I took out my policy a few months ago).’ That’s great to hear AND we’ve also reduced the prices even more since the trialling (my quote went down by £200!) so we have now launched our online quote designed uniquely for the registered users of car clubs. POSTSCRIPT! After officially launching this week, the first person to do an online quote and report back said ‘that actually worked out quite cheaply for me........will be bearing that in mind come renewal in a month’! So please bookmark the following url and click on this unique link for the registered users of this car forum to get a quote at renewal - GET AN ONLINE QUOTE – http://prestigekeepmoving.taaglquotes.com/car/getquote?source=CLUBLU (If you have more than 5 modifications or over 10% bhp increase, please ring us on 0800 3308057 or 0333 4001580)

  13. Here's my new car! Picked it up last week and had a hefty drive home: Had an absolute biatch of drive cos just after i bought it I put the window down and it decided not to go up. An hour and crap load of duck tape, masking tape, and clingfilm later... Luckily the guy I picked it up from gave me a spare window motor and I fitted it when I got home: Car is absolutely immaculate inside and out Cheeky wee engine shot:

  14. I bought this car standard in may 2012, cost me little money for a decent car. After my mk2 golf, this was a height of luxury! I have no pics of it standard, but you all know what a lupo looks like right? 4 hours after I bought it, the alternator died http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/sad.png Luckily my mate had a bora alternator lying around so I 'borrowed' it! Then I got some second hand coilies and some alloys, popped them on one overcast afternoon and this is how she sits! It needs a little archwork, but nothing compared to the golf! Then I pulled up to work the one day and my wheel bearing kersploded, so £45 later... Then I had it tracked because it was pulling to the right, real bad. And going down the road with my girlfriend, the wishbone bolt fell out! If it was standard height then I wouldn't have noticed, because it's lowered the bolt hit the ground but didn't come loose from the wishbone, just made a mass of smoke and noise. Fml? And this is the golf I've upgraded / downgraded from Loved that little thing http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/sad.png Comments welcome, hoping to get into the lupo scene and do a few meets etc!

  15. Got home today and my skirts had arrived from Germany, yippee! Couldn't wait do dry fitted them, this is when I realised I had a problem, they fit perfect in size and shape, but thiers no contact point on the underneath sill to fix them on, they wrap around the front and rear arches and also wrap over the upper door sill the full length, I was woundering I'd I should tiger seal the door sill contact and use two self tappers each end into arch trim, thankyou for reading. Ill put a pic up tomorrow of dry fit, they only took two weeks to come from Germany.

  18. Hi all, new to the forum Have a Canica Blue Arsoa Sport (is my girlfriends) Yesterday I did the job of stripping down the EGR and Throttle Body to clear out the 10 years of grime and build up. Ran vagcom adaption of EGR and throttle and OMG... its like a different beast. Now we have way more bottom end, you can really hear the grunt of the induction with increased throttle response and it is pulling nicely from 2000 rpm. I was honestly shocked how much difference it made to the car as it must have been way down on torque. This is a job that is really worth doing!!! The next job will be to strip down the intake manifold and clean out all the engine breathers will post a little how to if I have time.

  19. I noticed the trim on my pass side lock was loose and then thought I would try the lock and it was spinning. I was able to pull the lock out the door without undoing the screw inside the door edge. I have ordered a lock kit as when I split the lock there was a bit which was snapped but now I am wondering how I will get the lock to be held back in place?

  28. Hi there, know you've all probably had this asked before BUT. I couldn't find anything and some info would be really handy! Recently bought a 1.4 sport. It's absolutely amazing and I love it. (Upgraded to it from a 1.0E) I was playing around with it and noticed a few things... Firstly, when I push the drivers door lock button (which should lock all the doors, correct?) the drivers side doesn't lock. Also if I lock the car from the passengers side door then the drivers doesn't lock.. The led next to the alarm never flashes either :S it's had a new drivers door lock which isn't the same as the rest? I'm just wondering if there's some wiring not attached properly or do I need to replace something??? I was also thinking of firstly swapping the standard lock from the passengers side into the drivers door and then blanking it off, same with the boot lock, and then fitting a central locking kit from rclicks to allow me to have the key fob? What do u guys think? Any advice/pointers would be amazing! Also wondering, does it actually have an alarm???????? Thanks! Thanks. Matt.

  34. Need some help with my tyres. Recently put new alloys on my gti. They're 16 inch 4x100 et35 7.5j with 190/45 ( I think) tyres. Anyway the car came on lowering springs and there's slight rub from both back tyres when going round corners or over bumps. I think the car will only need to go up an inch at the most. Maybe even half an inch. Can anyone recommend advice on what to do? If new springs are the answer then what make/ size etc should I be looking for? Cheers.

  43. Hi all, Just to let you know, last Dunlop Sport Maxx race of the season is at Rockingham this weekend, qualifying on Saturday, 45 min race on Sunday, I have already won the class championship as you all know so no pressure for this last race, just going to have fun, the lupo has had a remap by BC-Tuning so hopefully a bit more power and a higher redline. More new cars are out in the class for this last race so we will be up against:- Pug 106 GTI Mini Cooper Fiat Punto HGT Hybrid Honda Civic (driven by Gavin Kershaw, FIA GT driver) Trying to get one of the BTCC drivers to be my guest second driver for the race, not sure yet, but will be cool if it happens. If anyone wants to come along please look us up, will be based in the Shawn Taylor Racing Artic. Cheers, Simon
